Swimming is permitted in this lake, so make the most of it. However, jumping or diving from the dam is strictly prohibited.

As with any suburban route, you need to pay close attention to the direction you are heading. This route has many unmarked junctions. To complete it, it may be useful to draw up a route map beforehand.

A very pleasant, shaded route, which gets quite busy during heatwaves like the one we’re having at the moment.
We continued our walk with a picnic in the shade of the pine trees and a swim in the lake.
Well worth a repeat visit.

We decided to start the hike at the lakeside guesthouse where we’d parked.
Quite simply because there are public toilets there, which were very clean. It’s better to start the walk feeling comfortable
We’d already done parts of the route before. This was the first time we’d walked all the way round the lake.
It’s worth noting that there are also toilets at the other end of the causeway. It might seem trivial, but these are details that we find important.
We discovered the geyser, which we hadn’t known about before.
This pre-lockdown day meant there were fewer visitors, as the site is usually very busy as soon as the sun comes out.
Also worth noting for new parents is that the route is accessible with a pushchair.
Do make sure to read up on the history of the place beforehand – it makes the walk ten times more interesting!

A short, very easy and very pleasant walk, suitable even for those of us who aren’t particularly fit!
The path is wide and well-marked, very even, with open woodland that’s perfect for hot weather.
