Description of the walk

Reach the village of Durfort and park in the car park at the entrance on the left.

(S/E) Enter the village and you will quickly reach the first crossroads.

(1) After the town hall, turn right onto the bridge over the Sor. Turn right and continue along a path beyond the cemetery. Initially flat, the path climbs into the woods.

(2) It changes direction before the hamlet of La Jasse. After another hairpin bend, it reaches a farm track lined with a penstock.

(3) Go to the service building and continue along this wide track. Cross a few streams to reach a trail junction at a new service building with directional markings on the wall of the building.

(4) Take the path that climbs steeply to the right. You will reach the crossroads of the path that leads to Roc de l'Homme.

(5) Continue on the path, which remains fairly level, to Les Cammazes, where you will join the D629.

(6) Cross Les Cammazes in the same direction until you reach the downstream outlet of the Canal de la Montagne.

(7) Walk along the left bank of the canal, following theGR®7to a terraced area overlooking the Cammazes dam lake. Take the stairs down to the access road to the dam.

(8) Cross this road and descend to the foot of the dam via the service road. Go around the facilities on the left towards the path that runs alongside the penstock coming from the dam.

(9) Take the path that runs alongside the penstock until you reach a service building for the penstock, located on a bend.

(10) Descend the path on the right towards the Sor. Cross it via a footbridge. After a short stretch along the Sor, the path zigzags up to the right through the forest until it reaches cultivated land.

(11) Ignore a path that branches off to the right and continue along the forest. You will come to a Y-junction.

(12) Take the path on the left that crosses a grazing area. You will then reach the access road to the Montagnet farm. At the junction with the road, there is a cross on the right.

(13) Take the road opposite to the left of the cross to reach the junction with the dirt track leading to the Jacournassy farm.

(14) Head straight ahead along this path, which you will soon leave on your left to continue along the slightly downhill dirt track. Pass close to La Roche à Cupules. Shortly afterwards, you will come to a crossroads in a flat area where the path widens.

(15) Take the path on the left which descends and joins the road at the hamlet of Le Chayla.

(16) Turn right onto this road which runs alongside the Sor valley. Return to the first crossroads.

(1) Turn right and follow the same route as on the way out to return to the car park (S/E).

Wednesday was the only sunny day of the whole week... Lots of slush due to the torrential rain over the last few weeks...
Easy except for a croissant on the right that is not easy to reach...

There are virtually no signposts along much of the route.
It is essential to have a map.

The banks of the Sor are particularly charming. The opportunity to visit the oppidum of Berniquaut, which is just a stone's throw from the route, should be mentioned (this would add about two kilometres to the walk).

A beautiful hike with many points of interest.
Be careful at point 15: we wanted to go to the Berniquaut oppidum and descend directly to Dourgne. Mistake! The path is very steep and slippery (pebbles). If you want to visit the Berniquaut oppidum (which is really worth seeing, even if the information on site is very poorly signposted), you must return to the trail to descend to Durfort via the Chemin des Abeilles.

Beautiful hike, but don't pay attention to the markings as they are completely wrong. What a shame.

"Reliability of the description": disappointing, lacking far too many details. That said, with the map, compass and a little thought, you can manage just fine, and this in no way detracts from the quality of this pleasant, peaceful hike.

A fairly monotonous hike in terms of scenery, but still a good warm-up.
