To get to the starting point, head towards the hamlet of Abbaye de Grandvaux in Grande-Rivière. The starting point is the car park on the D437 to the north-west of the cemetery.
(S/E) From the car park, turn left onto the path between the cemetery and the restaurant Le Tour du Lac. TheGR®559trail climbs southwards along the cemetery (white-red markings) towards Les Cermois. At the entrance to the woods, take the path on the right, then further on, pass the intersections of paths, keeping in the same direction. First turn left then right to cut across the bend in the Route Forestière du Bois d'Aval and reach Les Cornes.
(1) Back on the forest road, turn immediately right (yellow markings), descend the forest path which gradually slopes downwards towards the south-west for about 1 km and joins a road. Very soon, you will find the Belvédère du Moulin viewpoint on your right.
(2) Follow the path that descends to the right across the meadow. Near the reservoir, turn left onto the Route Forestière du Bois d'Aval, then turn right onto the path that descends to the D437. Cross this departmental road carefully and reach the hamlet of Sur le Moulin.
(3) Turn right to cross the hamlet and continue along the path through the meadow to La Madone, on the lake shore.
(4) At the junction with the Sur le Moulin sur l'Abbaye road, take a sharp left turn (GR® 559 white-red markings) to walk along the lake. Cross the sawmill and continue along the road that skirts the southern shore of the lake. Pass the hamlet of La Motte and climb to the right along a stony path for about 800 metres to reach the D146 at the hamlet of Les Bez.
(5) Turn right, heading north, onto the D146 for about 250 m. Leave theGR® trail, which branches off to the left just opposite No. 3, and continue through the hamlet of Les Farrods (yellow markings) on a small road parallel to the D146, which starts about ten metres further on to the left. Take care when crossing! Continue to the hamlet of Les Bouviers to rejoin the D146.
Continue left on the D146, then quickly leave it (before the fire hydrant) and take a tarmac path bordered by a hedge on the right.
(6) At the end of the tarmac road, at the intersection, take the grassy path in the middle to climb the small ridge to the Silo à Images.
(7) Inside this large wooden rotunda, where you can learn about the history of the inhabitants of this area, enjoy a 360° view of the lake, the Grandvaux plateau and the sharp limestone pavement des Chauvins, one of the jewels of this unique geological feature.
Continue on to the hamlet of Les Guillons by joining the D146. Turn left, continue for 150 metres before turning left just after the town hall to climb up to Le Pardon des Guillons, which overlooks the hamlet (yellow markings).
(8) Turn back to return to the D146, then turn left and follow it carefully to reach the junction with the D437.
(9) Continue to the right, then quickly leave the D437 and turn right. In the 90° right-hand bend, continue straight ahead on the grassy path. At the lake, turn left and head for the Lou Granva hotel-restaurant.
From the hotel, a few metres further on to the left, you will find L'Échappement, Jardin du Temps et de l'Espace, a war memorial erected in 2014, the work of American artist Amy O'Neill.
(10) Then return to the hotel car park and continue left along the lake to L'Abbaye en Granvaux to find the church and car park on the D437 (S/E).
