Park in the car park in front of Tallard Town Hall.
(S/E) From the car park, walk in front of the town hall and then turn left towards the stop sign at the edge of the D942. Cross this road at the pedestrian crossing and then turn right to follow the road for 100 metres. The red and whiteGR® markings invite you to turn left onto a path that climbs between two houses. The path becomes a trail and climbs to the heights of Tallard (Old Town). It climbs steadily, passing a water tank (viewpoint) and skirting a small road. Continue along the path, passing an old bourgeois house (la Tour) on your left, until you reach a tarmac road, which you should follow for about 100 metres. You will arrive at a bend in the road on a flat section.
(1) Turn right to find a Lettret sign (red and white markings and yellow markings).
Take the path that descends to the left into a stream bed (often dry), cross the footbridge and climb up towards a hut.
The path climbs, goes around the hut on the left, then enters a small pine forest. When the path widens, at the next junction, follow the markings on the right which descend onto a wide path. It continues along a balcony to a T-junction.
(2) Turn left towards Chateauvieux-Gap. Once you have gone around the Marinons farm and its lake, the trail arrives at a large crossroads in an oak forest.
(3) Leave theGR® and follow the yellow markings to the left towards Chateauvieux-Tallard. When the path joins a tarmac road, turn right onto it (beautiful views of Ceüze and Céüzette opposite, Pic de Bure and Charance on the right, then the peaks of Champsaur on the far right). Continue down the road, turn left and 200 metres further on, follow the signs on the right that lead to a path. At the end of the field, at a fork, take the path on the left between two fields, which will eventually rejoin the road a little further down.
Back on the road, turn right to complete the descent and arrive close to the church of Chateauvieux.
(4) Turn left, cross the village and continue down the road. After 600 metres, a road branches off to the left, climbing towards Tallard-Lettret. Continue to the last house (with numerous hunting dogs) and to the end of the road.
(5) Find a small path that branches off into the grass opposite the road, slightly to the left. This path leads to the natural hedge at the end of the field. Cross it and climb up the schist hill opposite.
Follow the tracks carefully, as there are no markings on the upper part of the hill (due to a lack of support), but the clearly visible tracks lead to the path downhill. You will rejoin the tarmac road at the bend in the same place as on the way up to Ville Vieille.
(1) Turn right onto the road for 100 metres and follow theGR® markings, which will take you down a path on the left via the same route as on the way up to return to Tallard and the car park (S/E).
