On the Plateau des Atrébates, starting from Frévillers

Start in Frévillers, town hall car park

(S/E) Join the D74 and follow it to the left.

(1) At the corner by the church, turn left into Rue de La Capelle. Continue until you reach the D74.

(2) Cross it and carry on straight ahead. Ignore a path coming from the right and continue to a junction. Carry on straight ahead until you reach the edge of the woodland (Mont de La Comté).

(3) Just before the woods, take the track on the left, then immediately take the next track on the left, which joins the D74. Follow it for a few metres to the left until you find a path on the right.

(4) Take this path, which eventually descends towards Magnicourt, running alongside the Bois d’Houvelin. You’ll come to a Fork in the road.

(5) Take the path on the left. A lovely descent through the woodland leads to a crossroads.

(6) Take the second road on the left (Rue des Allobroges).

(7) About 150 metres further on, just past the buildings on the right, turn right onto a path leading to the ridge.

(8) At the top, turn right. Follow the correct ridge path to reach a junction. Continue straight ahead along the D83 for 200 m.

(9) At the three-way junction, leave the D83 and take the path on the right. Turn right at a 90° angle and continue for a further 1 km.

(10) Just before a metal barrier on the left, don’t miss the lovely path on the left (be careful, it’s hard to spot) which climbs slightly before descending towards the Lawe near its source. Cross the stream and follow the small road on the left (Rue de la Lawe). Climb gently, ignoring the turnings to the right and left, until you reach the first houses of Monchy-Breton, then the D86.

(11) Follow this for about a hundred metres to the left before turning left onto Rue de l’Église. Continue until you reach the D77. See practical information 1.

(12) Turn left onto the D77 and, 200 metres further on, take a track on the right.

(13) Take this track, then turn left onto the first track for a long straight stretch through the fields. You’ll reach a small road; follow it to the left to reach the D83.

(14) Follow it to the right, pass under a power line (see practical information 2) and, 200 metres further on, take a good track on the left.

(15) Follow this track until you reach a T-junction. Take the track on the right and continue until you reach another T-junction.

(16) Take the small road on the left (PR® Chemin des Bosquets).

(17) At the fork in the road, take the right-hand track (still PR®) along a lovely path which leads to a crossroads.

(18) Take the track on the left towards Chelers (PR®). Ignore a path on the right and you’ll come to a Fork in the road.

(19) Take the path on the right (leaving the PR®) and reach the D77. Cross it to take the path opposite. Reach a T-junction.

(20) Take the track on the left, pass through Fond de Guestreville (which can sometimes be wet) and join a small road.

(21) Follow it to the left to reach the hamlet of Guestreville. At the junction, take the road on the right, then immediately the one on the left. Pass in front of “La Hulotte” and reach the water tower.

(22) Take a lovely path on the left – which can be a bit tricky in places – leading to a crossroads (with a wayside shrine).

(23) Follow the small road on the right to reach Frévillers. At the T-junction, turn left to reach the church straight away.

(1) Carry on straight ahead to the town hall (S/E).

Make sure you wear suitable footwear, even though the paths are generally in very good condition.

There may be a water source at the Monchy-Breton cemetery.

1) (12) It should be possible to turn right here. After a few metres, turn left towards the square and immediately left onto Impasse des Bleuets. You’ll come to a white house. Turn right here and, at the very end, look for a narrow passage on the left which leads onto a lovely grassy path. Follow this path, which bends to the left before reaching a T-junction where you’ll rejoin the route.

2) After the point (14), there is a path that starts on the left beneath the power line. It ends after about 500 metres. I took this path in late August 2026 and it was easy to continue along the edge of the fields (potato fields on the left) to reach a good path 300 metres further on. Following this path to the right and straight on, you’ll reach the waypoint (16).
