Mont de La Comté

Car park at the Town Hall and School in Magnicourt-en-Comté.

(S/E) Follow the road towards the church, south-east.

(1) At the junction, continue straight ahead along Rue Louis Sinot, passing in front of the^12th -century church.

(2) At the crossroads, turn left onto the path. Take care at the first bend; in wet weather, a spring may overflow onto the path, forcing you to climb up the embankment or wade across. Afterwards, the path climbs steadily from elevation 100 to 175 over approximately 1.4 km to join the D74.

(3) Follow the road to the left for 300m , taking care to stay well to the side as this road is very busy.

(4) At the Y-junction, follow the path on the right which leads you to Mont de La Comté.

(5) At the junction, take the path on the right marked with yellow signs.

(6) At the crossroads, follow the path on the left, marked in yellow, which goes round Mont de la Comté. Join the junction with^{the GR®127}.

(7) Turn left onto this road, which follows the^GR®127(marked in white and red). Join the D86.

(8) Cross it and continue straight ahead along Rue du Moulin, following the^GR®127until you reach the outskirts of the village of La Comté.

(9) Keep to the^GR® straight ahead, cross the road leading to Bajus, and at the next junction take a grassy path.

(10) Turn left onto it, leaving the^GR®127here, then turn right to rejoin a road.

(11) Head down the road to the left and, at the Y-junction, continue along the road opposite. Follow the Lawe, cross the bridge, cross the D86 and continue to the roundabout.

(12) Follow the road opposite for 100m and turn right for the final climb, which rises from an altitude of 100m to 135m over a distance of 200m.
At the junction, take the path on the right and follow it down to the next junction.

(1) Follow the road to the right back to your starting point (S/E).

Hiking boots are essential, preferably high-top, if you need to wade across the stream, and some paths may be muddy in wet weather.

(8) As you walk through the village, you will come across a waterfall and an old watermill, and pass by the church, taking care to use the pedestrian crossings.
