From Oloron-Sainte-Marie, head towards Esquiule and park, for example, in front of the transformer.
(S/E) Take the main street towards the town hall; after passing it, go down the steps and head left to the sign (note: 11.8 km, 4h35 is for the round trip). Head down to the right towards the sewage treatment plant, go through the barrier and cross the bridge over the Ruisseau Gorria.
(1) Climb as best you can to the top of the meadow to find the path, which joins a road.
(2) Follow it straight ahead (watch out for dogs), pass Ligizea Farm and arrive at Argain Farm.
(3) Climb a steep track and turn left onto a track to go round the bottom of the antennas. Join another road.
(4) Follow it to the left.
(5) Ignore a path on the right, which you will use on the return from the summit, and continue to a signpost before a hairpin bend in the road.
(6) Leave the road and take a path that joins the ridge to follow to the summit: lovely views, four small signposts and a cross.
(7) Descend via the same path.
(6) Return along the road in the opposite direction for about 200 m.
(5) Turn left onto a path (signposted ‘Retour Esquiule 2h’) which leads to another very quiet road.
(8) Follow it to the right until you reach the D24 at the entrance to Esquiule.
(9) Turn right twice, heading towards the church and the transformer station car park, opposite the school (S/E).
