Saint-Sébastien (Isère) walks

This circular walk starts at the Col de Masserange and allows you to explore some of the many trails around Masserange and its arboretum. Superb panoramic views of the Trièves and the eastern face of the Vercors, and, on occasion (depending on the season and vegetation), of the Écrins massif and the north of the Dévoluy.

A remarkable circular route offering a breathtaking array of contrasting landscapes. Nestled between the Vercors and Dévoluy massifs and their iconic peaks, the Trièves reveals a sublime andunspoilt natural environment .

A beautiful variety of landscapes, beautiful views of the Drac gorges, the upper reaches of Lake Monteynard and, of course, the Vercors, Oisans, Obioux, etc. Yellow markings will guide you along the way, and there are numerous hiking signs to help you find your way.

Wild balcony above the village. Start gently on the Sentier des Pavés, then turn off towards the Ruisseau de Chalanne. This is where a small, very wild path begins, often in poor condition due to bad weather. The hike ends at the Bois du Permay and then Pierre Grosse.

This walk is accessible to all and takes you on a tour of the village of Cordéac and its four ovens. The route is suitable for walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders. It passes by a large children's playground with a picnic area, close to an equestrian centre, and allows you to discover the local architecture.

This hike ends on a plateau dominated by the Dévoluy's landmark mountain: the Obiou.

A short, easy circular route around Mens, with beautiful views of the entire Trièves region for most of the route. Suitable in all seasons. You can enjoy the shops and cafés in Mens before or after your hike.

A hike to discover this small natural region of Beaumont from one of its peaks, at 1,493 m, and its irrigation canal, which is over 150 years old. Beautiful views of the Écrins and Obiou massifs and the Matheysin plateau (when there is no fog!). The route is very well signposted and marked, so it's impossible to get lost!

A route of moderate difficulty that takes you from the small village of Prunières to a magnificent panoramic view of the Trièves and, beyond, the Oisans and the Obiou massif.

A magnificent hike with breathtaking views of the Vercors massif and the Trièves. The crossing of the Lames d’Arçon is impressive, with a long, exposed section. The arrival at the Col de l’Aiguille takes your breath away with an exceptional panorama of the Obiou, the Dévoluy, the Taillefer and the Écrins. There’s a high chance of encountering herds of chamois on the foothills of the Rattier.

A short but steep hike at the foot of the western part of the Obiou massif, beneath the Arêtes de Bachilianne. The view of the entire distant Vercors range and the sense of the towering Obieu foothills will make the effort well worth it.

Hike in Beaumont with the almost constant view of the Obiou Massif as your companion. The alternating tracks, paths and trails combine with woods and undergrowth, through the rural activities of yesteryear (mills, vineyards, etc.). This walk is suitable for all walkers, including families who are used to a bit of effort...

This hike, which is suitable for everyone, will take you along a Discovery Trail to a small peak overlooking the little town of La Mure. Crossing the meadows, you will then discover the surrounding mountains from the south of the Vercors to the Oisans via the Obiou. In Prunières, you will visit an old mining well where a magnificent fresco pays tribute to the miners. Paths and trails alternate between shaded and sunny passages.

A short but very pleasant walk in the heart of the Trièves basin. You will have beautiful panoramic views of the many peaks that surround it. A walk that is particularly accessible to families.

A lovely route to enjoy with the family through the rolling hills of the Trièves. It alternates between woodland, meadows and a bit of tarmac, without any difficulty.

This walk is a variation on the classic tour of the Himalayan footbridges of Lake Monteynard, which does not require a boat trip (for a fee) to return to the starting point. In addition, this route takes you to the Pas du Berlioz (very beautiful view of the lake) and the Pont de Brion. It is hardly any longer than taking the boat, as you don't need to go all the way to the pier, which is quite far away. However, part of the route is a return trip.

This hike is not marked, but it is easy to follow and the 360° view from the summit is magnificent.

A hike to reach the summit of Sénépy via good paths or trails, mainly on the southern slope. A very beautiful hike for cool or cold seasons, with splendid views.

A beautiful hike with magnificent views of the Trièves and Dévoluy regions, on a sunny hillside, ideal for the off-season. The slopes are moderate but the atmosphere is mountainous. It is possible to climb to the summit of Sénépy along the way.

A circular hike to do when the boat is not crossing the lake (out of season) or if you want to take your time crossing the footbridges over two days. See the Pont de Brion and Ébron footbridge hike. This hike is not recommended for people who are afraid of heights or have a phobia of falling.

A superb, quick walk to the Drac footbridge, along the north bank of the river of the same name, south of Lake Monteynard. Beautiful views of the lake and river, until you cross the Himalayan footbridge before returning.

A magnificent hike on vertiginous trails in the Dévoluy Massif, offering splendid panoramic views of the surrounding mountains throughout the entire route. A real breath of fresh air. Hikers beware: this route is for experienced hikers only and a helmet is mandatory. It is also advisable to only attempt this hike in good weather.

This fun and spectacular variation on the magnificent ascent of the Grande Tête de l’Obiou allows you to complete a circular loop, climbing up the splendid Cheminée du Petit Obiou wedged between the stone pillars of this wild summit, then squeezing through the two narrow passages on the east face of the Grand Obiou. A few short sections of easy climbing (maximum 3c) and a route largely off the beaten track lend the hike a sense of wild adventure.

The Sommet de la Cavale does not claim to be on a par with its imposing neighbour, Le Coiro, which is 460 m higher. However, it remains a worthwhile destination, both for its wild and airy setting and for the beauty of the surrounding landscapes. The fairly sustained climb up this long ridge is richly rewarded by the magnificent viewpoint offered by the summit, which provides breathtaking views of the Valbonnais, Dévoluy, Matheysine and Vercors massifs and the high peaks of the Écrins.

Passing through the old hamlet of Pellafol, nestled in the heart of wild and peaceful countryside, will fill you with wonder and transport you to a soothing world. This route takes you through forest and undergrowth for a long time, protecting you from the heat and any wind, and leads you to the foot of the Obiou. The 1,500 metres before the pass are on a wide track, exposed to the sun.The path is obvious, marked in yellow at the start, then in yellow and red (GRP®). The markings help you avoid taking the wrong path or trail, of which there are many on this route.Cows and vultures await you at the pass. The small additional loop offers a panoramic view of the turquoise waters of Lac du Sautet and the Trièves region, with Lac de Monteynard. (However, you can limit yourself to a return trip to the pass, which is 300 metres less in altitude). Take the opportunity to admire the Défilé de la Souloise and the Paroi des Voutes. In the distance, the Pic de Bure shows off its characteristic silhouette.
