The Confolens Waterfall from Le Périer

Park in the car park on the Route du Col d'Ornon, in the centre of Le Périer, next to the church. The Route de la Cascade is paved but winding and narrow, so it is best avoided.

(S/E) Walk up the main street towards the town hall. Leave the bridge over the Tourot on your left and take the small road on the right. Continue straight ahead at the next crossroads and walk up the Route de la Cascade. Turn right onto the road that leads to the cemetery.

(1) Take the path on the left of the cemetery, following it. Then continue along the path through the woods to join the Route de la Cascade.

(2) Turn right onto this road that climbs up the Tourot valley. The road is relatively shaded.

(4)Enjoy (from a distance) the powerful Confolens waterfall. Then head to the bridge over the Tourot to see the torrent that feeds the waterfall.

(3) Retrace your steps by taking the road in the opposite direction.

(2) Take the path above the road to visit the ruins of the 11th-century Château du Serre de la Casse.

(5) Enjoy the view over the Malsanne valley. Retrace your steps and take the Route de la Cascade downhill to return to the car park (S/E).

Walking shoes are recommended.
