The hike starts at a hairpin bend on the Route du Poursollet, at a place called "Pré des Dames". There are hiking signs indicating Lac de Prévourey.
Parking is available at the edge of the forest track.
(1) Take this track heading south, which is almost flat or very slightly uphill. After about 1 km, the track ends. Reach Lac de Prévourey, leave the return path on your left and pass a hut.
(2) The trail crosses the stream flowing down from Lac Brouffier.
The trail gains altitude along the stream and then moves away from it. The climb is winding, and you gain altitude fairly quickly.
After a welcome flat section (altitude 1,913 m), the trail crosses the stream again to reach the right bank and the climb continues in switchbacks to the lake.
(3) When you reach the lake, leave the trail that descends from the Pas de la Vache on your right, climb a little further to the left and reach the Cabane de Brouffier. The trail passes slightly below the hut, then next to a small lake that is often dry.
The hike continues along the mountainside on a gentle slope to reach the ridge and the path that descends from Taillefer, which you leave on your right.
(4) The trail then begins to descend, initially along the ridge: take time to enjoy the magnificent view stretching from the Matheysine to the Belledonne Massif, via the Isère valley and the Grenoble conurbation.
The trail leaves the ridge and crosses the combe; the descent becomes steeper.
(5) When you reach the bottom of the valley, take the path on the left that starts on a steep slope (signs indicating the Louvet hut). Reach the forest and then join a good horizontal path.
(6) Turn left. After about 800 metres, the path turns into a trail and a fairly steep descent takes you back to Lac de Prévourey. Then simply take the forest track on the right that you followed at the start to return to the beginning of the hike.
