Rorschach - Speicher via the Alpenpanorama Weg

For ease of description, the following symbols are used:
R sign: Yellow sign with hiker pictogram
W sign: Sign or diamond with the word Wanderweg
Sign No. 3: Yellow multi-directional sign with green sticker No. 3

(S) From Hauptstrasse (Hotel Mozart), go to Rorschach Harbour (Hafen). Sign No. 3

(1) Head east, follow the Bodensee along the beautiful lakeside promenade until you reach Rorschach main station.

(2) Take the underground passageway at the station and exit on the opposite side. Follow the signs for sign No. 3. Go up Promenadestrasse, take Seebleichestrasse and cross it carefully at the intersection on the left. Sign No. 3.

(3) Turn right onto Klostergetstrasse and after about 80 metres, turn left onto Wiggensweg to reach Thalerstrasse.

(4) Turn left onto Thalerstrasse and cross it. After about 100 metres, you will see sign No. 3 again. Turn right onto Lincolnstrasse, which forms a loop under the motorway. At the end of the bend, take the shortcut and return to Lincolnstrasse. Follow the signs to reach the Château Hotel (Schloss Wartensee).

(5) On the right, take a small path (Krenneweg). It leads to a paved road and reaches the road at Wienacht-Tobel near a bridge.

(6) Cross the railway bridge and follow the signs for Heiden. Continue to Schwendi, crossing the railway line. After Schwendi, go under the railway line and after two bends, you will reach a Y-junction.

(7) Take the small road on the right towards Heiden via Matten. Continue to the entrance to the village of Heiden.

(8) Head south to the Hotel Linde, turn right onto Poststrasse and continue along Freihofstrasse. Turn onto Werdstrasse. Pass the hospital, then turn right onto Brunnenstrasse. Leave the hamlet of Brunnen and you will see a staircase.

(9) Climb the steps and continue along a path that joins a small road in Oberbrunnen. Turn right and return to the Schwantelen farm. Go around the farm and start a fairly steep climb on a path at the edge of the woods until you reach an intersection. Sign No. 3.

(10) Keep heading west and gradually enter a wooded area until you reach the Naturfreundehaus Kaien. Pass this inn and look for another signpost No. 3.

(11) Quickly reach the Kaienspitz (highest point of the day). Begin the descent towards the village of Rehetobel, following the signs.

(12) In Rehetobel, turn left and then right, passing the Post Hotel and the imposing church. Leave the village via Holderenstrasse and, at a bend, take a path towards the Wisli farm. For about 80 metres, the path curves down to a small bridge over a stream. This section is difficult to walk on as it has been trampled by cows. Descend carefully to the small bridge.

(13) Walk towards Chastenloch, passing the Oberen Cholenrüti and Lobenschwendi mountain pastures. Signpost R.

(14) Turn south and you will soon reach the Chatenloch restaurant. Signpost No. 3.

(15) Cross the first bridge over the Goldach stream. Leave Chemin No. 3, which leads to Trogen. Take the path towards Speicher, crossing the second bridge on the right. Climb up to a small road in Gern, cross the village of Speicher via the main street (Dorf) and come out onto the Hauptstrasse at the Hotel Krone Speicher (E)

• ? Alpine pastures: You will cross many alpine pastures, where farmers are very cooperative with hikers. Please stay on the paths that cross their property. Don't forget to close any gates behind you.
