This stage will take you from Appenzell to Schwägalp at the foot of the Säntis. This day is devoted to climbing the Kronberg, a ridge parallel to the Alpstein massif. The Kronberg offers superb views of the Säntis to the south and the plain stretching to Lake Constance in the north. In the evening, you will appreciate the tranquillity of Schwägalp.

Hello Spineur,
Thank you for your feedback on this route.
The problem with a 7 to 15 day itinerary is that you have to accept a few rainy days. When I did the route, along with a group of Swiss, they took the bus on rainy days. The same applied if they thought the stage was too long or not very interesting. It wasn't a problem for them, because transport was at a reduced rate. That ties in with what you said about the high cost of living in Switzerland.
I also agree that the Amden Siebnen stage was less interesting.

We did this 7-day itinerant tour between Appenzell and Cham. Switzerland offers some quite unique panoramas, with vast, very green pastures, mountains and lakes. For much of the route, you're on a ridge line, hence the name Alpenpanorama Weg. The most beautiful stage is between Alpenzell and Stein, the least interesting between Amden and Sieben.
Disadvantages: it can rain (2 days/7) and Switzerland is expensive, even very expensive.
