Rochechinard walks
Rochechinard and the Col Des Marchands
A pleasant walk to explore Rochechinard Castle, with beautiful views of Musan Mountain on one side and the Drôme des Collines plain on the return journey to the Col des Marchands.
From Rochechinard to Pré de Cinq Sous
A beautiful hike in the Monts du Matin, through beech forests and meadows covered with orchids.
Tour of the Château de la Rochechinard
This short, pleasant walk takes you to the ruins of the feudal castle of Rochechinard and offers a magnificent view of the Royans valley.
There is a short steep section of 15 metres.
Rochechinard Castle
In the heart of Royans, this hike will allow you to discover the ruins of Rochechinard Castle, the Rochechinard Museum and its chapel, as well as beautiful views of the Royans hills and the Vercors mountains.
Circular route around Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans
This easily accessible hike offers superb views of the Vercors. I recommend doing it in the afternoon in winter and late afternoon in summer.
The Col des Bois Communaux
Come and hike in the hills above Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans with a fantastic viewpoint halfway along the route.
On the heights of Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans
A walk in the hills above Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans offering beautiful views of the whole Royans region. Much of the route is through forest with some fairly steep slopes.
Crêtes de Belle-Combe
A very beautiful hike in the Monts du Matin. No particular difficulty except for the steep climb in the first part of the circuit. Dogs are strictly prohibited in this area.
Frochet Caves from Saint-Jean-en-Royans
A beautiful hike where you can see an artistic curiosity, a viewpoint over the valley and finally the Frochet caves. There is a slight difference in altitude, with some sections climbing a little, but the return after the summit is very pleasant.
On the crossroads between Hostun and La Baume-d'Hostun
An easy walk to discover the heritage and countryside around these two villages. You will walk along the edge of the Royans hills with beautiful views of the plain to the east. At the beginning and end, this walk partly overlaps with the marked hike: "L'Hostunoise".
The Chemin de la Verdure in Hostun
An easy walk to explore the countryside and heritage around Hostun. Beautiful views over the Roman and Isère plains, with Mont Gerbier des Jonc, Mézenc and others in the background.
The Musan mountain in Beauregard-Baret
Almost entirely through undergrowth and forest, this pretty, fairly challenging hike offers beautiful views of the Vercors and the Romans valley on a clear day. The ridge route, passing by the Rocher de Chantemerle where the Beauregard TV transmitter is located, is a succession of ascents and descents, sometimes close to or far from the cliffs, sometimes over rocks or sharp limestone pavement.
Le Pré de Cinq Sous via Saragaillard and Ravin des Goulets
A variation on the classic hike via the Col des Marchand (which it avoids), less demanding in terms of difficulty and duration than the usual routes, this loop takes you along good paths and trails to the Pré de Cinq Sous, returning via the Ravin des Goulets and the luminous Ravin de Tête d'Homme.
The Cascade du Dégoutte-Eau waterfall
This is a short walk in the Vercors to a little-known waterfall, which unfortunately dries up in summer and autumn. To get there, you will follow wide paths through a rugged or open landscape, surrounded by small mountains, green meadows and fragrant undergrowth. This is not a circular walk, but a round trip. The outward journey is a constant and sometimes steep climb. Logically, the return journey is much easier.
