To start, leave the Col d'Izoard road as you enter Arvieux and turn right onto the D605 towards the hamlet known as "Les Maisons". At the entrance to the hamlet, there is a parking area on the left with a water point.
(S/E) Start the hike towards the hamlet, then follow the signs towards Lac de Roue. Easy climb on the forest track.
(1) Turn left to stay on theGR® trail. If you continue on the track, you will also reach the lake, but it is longer and easier. You will arrive at the magnificent Lac de Roue, which has a Canadian feel to it.
(2) Leave it on your left and turn right just before the wooden bridge, heading towards the two viewpoints over the Guil valley.
From there, the forest path is very pleasant, walking on a soft carpet of pine needles.
The first viewpoint below on the right is unmissable, with its benches and safety barrier.
The next viewpoint is also quite nice and well laid out, offering a view of Fort Queyras below.
(3) Continue by keeping to the right. However, the other visible paths also lead back to Lac de Roue, but more quickly. You will arrive at theGR®5.
(4) Leave it on your right and turn left back towards the lake.
(5) Turn right to go around it and when you reach theGR® perpendicularly, turn right towards Souliers.
From there, take the slightly downhill forest track to Souliers, which you will have admired many times from the balcony. You will reach Souliers via this track.
(6) Take the same path in reverse to return to the first crossroads at the lake. Back at the lake, walk along its left-hand side.
(2) Turn right onto the forest track that climbs towards La Chalp.
(7) At a hairpin bend, leave the track on the left behind the picnic tables. There is a superb descent through the forest along a narrow path that winds its way alongside the Pellas torrent for a while.
You will arrive at the car park (S/E), which you will have been able to see below you for some time.
