Description of the walk

- By car, you can park at the Quai des Terres Neuvas car park or, as a last resort, at Dahouët Pond.
- By bus, route 202 Plévenon – Pléneuf-Val-André – Saint-Brieuc stops at “Dahouët Le Port”, as does the Terre & Mer 3 route: Pléneuf-Val-André > Lamballe-Armor.
During the high season, in the summer (from 5 July to 24 August), the “Les Estivales - 5” shuttle serves the same stop.

(S/E) From the Quai des Terres Neuvas car park, head towards the lock, cross the bridge and walk along the Étang de Dahouët to the small wooden bridge.

(1) Cross the Pont de la Flora and turn left towards the road. Cross the road opposite to the left and walk up Rue Haute de la Vigne to the Chapelle de Dahouët.

(2) Turn left to walk past the chapel and continue straight on along Rue du Corps de Garde. After about 200 metres, take Allée des Caps Horniers on the right.

(3) Continue straight on along Allée du Champ de la Croix and keep going straight down to Rue de Lamballe. Turn left into Rue des Vagues towards the seafront promenade.

(4) Walk along the seafront promenade to the left until, after 50 metres, you turn left again onto Rue des Sablons. Keep to the right before the steps to take the path leading to the GR®34. Follow this path along the coast.

(5) Once you reach the oratory, continue along the harbour until you return to the car park (S/E).

Notes

You will find picnic tables at Dahouët Pond, so at the start or end of your walk.

There are other toilet facilities along the route: there are some at the Dahouët Maritime Heritage Workshop Museum, at the Murs Blancs water sports centre and at Dahouët Pond.

Worth a visit

At the start of your route, you’ll walk alongside Dahouët Pond, where the Flora river flows into. It is home to a wonderful variety of birds, including ducks, cormorants and moorhens. Don’t miss our pair of barnacle geese, who have settled here for the year.

The harbour, now mainly a marina, was once a fishing port from which sailors set off for Newfoundland and Iceland in search of cod. If you’re lucky, you might spot the Pauline, an old sailing ship, a remnant of that past.

The Dahouët Chapel and the Notre-Dame de la Garde Oratory are also reminders of this past.
