Description of the walk

The walk starts opposite Collège Jean Richepin, on Boulevard Kennedy.

Access:
- by car, you can park on Boulevard Kennedy in the car park right next to the Mille Club community hall.
- by bus: during the summer season (5 July to 24 August), the “Les Estivales – 5” shuttle bus serves the Mille Club Kennedy stop.

(S/E) Opposite the school, turn left.

(1) After passing the Mille Club hall, turn left onto Chemin du Vauclair, then take the next right to walk alongside the golf course until you reach the road near the Domaine du Golf.

(2) Head straight down, crossing the road, then follow the edge of a field. At the end, turn left and continue straight on until you reach a white gravel cycle path.

(3) Follow this track, keeping an eye out for the ‘Vélomaritime’ signs, for around 2 km.

(4) When you reach the road, keep right, then turn left. At Ville Pierre, keep right.

(5) Turn left onto a wooded path and follow it downhill.

(6) At the end of the path, continue left onto a tree-lined road bordered by a low stone wall, then turn right at the next junction to head up Rue des Épinettes until you reach a stop sign.

(7) At the stop sign, cross the road and carry on straight ahead towards Ville Berneuf beach. Take the first path on the left leading down to the beach, then turn left onto the GR®34 towards Pléneuf-Val-André. Follow the GR® for about 3 km until you reach the Plage des Vallées car park.

(8) Walk up the road on the left, staying on the pavement, then cross to the left and take the Chemin du Vauclair. Follow this path all the way straight ahead to return to the starting point of the walk (S/E).

Notes

Essentials:

-High-top walking boots, ideally with suitable socks to prevent blisters.

-Oneor more water bottles, depending on the size of the group and the length of the walk.

-Head coverings(cap, hat, sun hat, etc.) and sun cream in case of prolonged exposure to the sun.

- Awindbreaker or waterproof jacket in case of rain and/or wind.

Take care on the descent just before the Vallées beach car park: one section is quite steep and strewn with stones.

On the walk, there is a spot with toilet facilities and picnic tables, which is the Les Vallées beach car park. It is located towards the end of the route, so do make sure you set off with your water bottles full.

Worth a visit

Les Vallées beach, 500 metres away, offers a beautiful view of the Verdelet and lies below the golf course. It’s accessible by bike or on foot from Pléneuf via the Chemin du Vauclair. This large beach is bordered by a silt cliff. If you keep your eyes peeled, you can watch the ballet of the sand martins that nest there.

Nantois Beach, bordered by a strip of pebbles, is a stretch of fine sandy beach in a wild setting that reveals itself with the tides. Watch your ankles – the pebbles don’t make for the easiest walking surface.

Ville Berneuf Beach, with its dunes classified as a Sensitive Natural Area, comes into view just before you reach the GR®34; if conditions are right, you’ll be able to see a whole range of water and beach sports enthusiasts there, such as kitesurfers, wingfoil riders, surfers and even sand yachters.
