Description of the walk

Access: on leaving Mouthe, head towards Morez, take the D389 towards the Vallée de Joux. Continue on this road for 3 km, then, in the bend, turn right to arrive at the "Chez Liadet" site. Car park at Chez Liadet near Mouthe.

Yellow and blue signposts

(S/E) From the car park, take the small tarmac road winding through the valley, pass the Plaine Chez Liadet and arrive at a fork.

(1) Ignore the path on the left, which will be the return route, and continue past the Bâtie dessous (lodge) until the next intersection.

(2) Turn left onto a wide stony path to reach the Bâtie dessus, which serves as a horse shelter. Pass the chalet and continue along the path for about 500 m, which turns left and enters a forest. You will reach a large clearing.

(3) Leave the main path and take a grassy path on the left, in the middle of a wooded meadow (pasture dotted with spruce trees) towards Chez Bougaud. To the left of the house, at the highest point of the route (altitude 1,155 m), rejoin a stony path that descends to the bottom of a valley lined with enclosed pastures.

(4) In the hollow, at the intersection of several paths, turn left and you will arrive at the Chez Greset summer chalet.

(5) In front of the chalet, turn left and follow the path for about 500 m until you reach the intersection with Chez Mimi.

(6) Take the path on the left for about 80 m, then descend to the right along a wide, steep path in the forest. You will arrive at the Plaine Chez Liadet, which you passed on the way there.

(1) Turn right and, following the same route as on the way there, return to the car park at Chez Liadet (S/E).
