A route in the Vallon du Lou, a still unspoilt part of the Vallée des Belleville despite the presence of a few ski lifts. A route along a well-marked path passing by Lac du Lou, Lac de Pierre Blanche and Col de Pierre Blanche, with a ridge walk to reach the Pointe de la Masse. The route can be shortened by 1 hour 15 minutes by avoiding the Pointe de la Masse and its lake.

This route takes the Sentier des Girauds and then the Sentier des Teppes, before retracing its steps and ending with the Sentier des Girauds, which leads to the Roc 1 cable car arrival point. As the ski touring trail is not marked before the Christmas holidays and is impossible to find, it is still possible to take the footpath, which offers a beautiful, easily accessible hike, perfect for an introduction to ski touring.

This final stage – the sixth of our journey – takes us over the Col de Chavière (2,796 m), which is often snow-covered and very steep, before descending through a lunar landscape towards Lac de la Partie, then into the lush Polset valley. The theme of the day: descent, descent and… descent (watch out for your knees).
The final descent towards Modane and the return to the town follows a good path that leads straight to the station, after a short detour via the Fort du Replaton.

First day of a two-day hike in the Maurienne with a bivouac.
Hike completed in 2016 with a break at the Col de la Baisse, another above the Chalet des Brunes and a final one at the Chalet du Tovet.
