Peuton walks
Route covering both villages, starting from Peuton
Pleasant circular route between the villages of Peuton and Marigné-Peuton in southern Mayenne. At the end of the route, on your return to Peuton, you’ll take the brand-new Sentier de la Carrière.
Cosmes Route
This short walk will introduce you to the Cosmes countryside. You’ll follow the old railway line and pass close to the Robert Tatin Museum – the perfect opportunity to discover this artist and his monumental work.
Margué Route
The Margué route offers a pleasant walk through the countryside around Laigné in southern Mayenne.
Route from Oliveau to Saint-Sulpice
This beautiful walk will take you through the pretty, flower-filled village of Saint-Sulpice and its countryside. In season, you can visit the gardens of the Château de la Rongère in the village. You can also enjoy the peace and quiet of the banks of the Mayenne river by taking the towpath.
La Roche Neuville loop: heritage and craftsmanship
With family, friends or on your own, venture off the beaten track of the Mayenne towpath to discover the heritage and crafts hidden in the towns of La Roche-Neuville, Loigné-sur-Mayenne and Saint-Sulpice.
Route in Cossé-le-Vivien
This lovely walk in Cossé-le-Vivien is all about water: you’ll discover the Cossé wetland as well as a small pond where you can stop for a pleasant break.
Eastern Craon Route
A short circular route that takes you along the paths through the Craon countryside. You’ll also follow the old railway line, now the Laval–Renazé Greenway.
At the Mûrier lake (the start and finish of the route), there are a few benches and picnic tables. There are also plenty of children’s play equipment and water play facilities (in July and August).

Route from La Roche to Origné

Château-Gontier Viaduct route on the Mayenne
This circular route will take you to discover the Château-Gontier Viaduct, which opened on 5 October 2022. This monumental structure is 296 m long and 28 m high. After taking in some wonderful views of the river, set off to explore the must-see sights of Château-Gontier.
Walk in Château-Gontier
This route takes you along greenways, narrow streets and gardens. It's a pleasant way to discover this charming town crossed by the Mayenne River on foot.
Route de La Valette in Villiers-Charlemagne
The route to the north-west of Villiers-Charlemagne is characterised by water, with sections running alongside the village’s ponds
in the village as well as the River Mayenne. You’ll also catch sight of some beautiful castles.
Route du Bourgneuf in Saint-Quentin-les-Anges
This circular route will allow you to explore the countryside of Haut-Anjou on the border between Mayenne and Maine-et-Loire. You will pass close to the Oudon, a pretty little river, near the Moulin de Sevillé.
Around Montigné-le-Brillant
A lovely walk through the countryside near Montigné. Beautiful, unobstructed scenery. Mainly small tarmac country roads and 1.5 km on a dirt track. The final section follows the D283 for 400 m. A shortcut is possible by returning via the Voie Verte, which is shaded and has a dirt and gravel surface: less tiring and, above all, no cars, though cyclists do pass through.
Méral Route
This family-friendly walk, lasting just over 3 hours, will take you on a tour of the village of Méral and its surroundings.
Through woods and along the river around L’Huisserie
Discover the life-size illustration of L’Huisserie’s slogan, ‘between woods and river’. This walk is suitable for families as it presents no particular difficulty, and you can enjoy a picnic (you’ll find tables at the signposts (6) and shortly after (7)).
Mayenne towpath and counter-towpath route starting from Ménil
A lovely walk along the River Mayenne, ideal for enjoying the coolness of the river on sunny days! Please note that this is one of the only sections of the river where you can walk along both banks. You can also enjoy beautiful views of the Château de la Haute Roche and the Château de la Porte.
Circuit of the three communes starting from Ménil
This mountain bike loop will take you through three communes in the Château-Gontier region: Ménil, Chemazé and Saint-Fort. You will combine towpaths, sunken lanes and greenways to discover the natural heritage of southern Mayenne.
The Coudriers Route in Coudray
The Coudriers route in Coudray will take you through the countryside around this pretty, flower-filled village (4 flowers). You’ll also pass close to the Bavouze lock on the River Mayenne. You can head down to the riverbank for a refreshing break; this is a detour of about 150 m (turn left just after the Blin flour mill, 500 m before the ‘5 ’).
The Japanese steps of the Jouanne and the Rochevier lime kiln
This short walk will take you to discover the Jouanne and its stepping stones, as well as the Bois de l’Orbière, the Château de la Mazure and the Rochevier lime kiln. The stepping stones have been reinstalled a little further down the route.
