(S) From the shaded car park near the old Guebwiller railway station, head towards the Lauch bridge and cross it. Cross the road and, just opposite, slightly to the left, take the alleyway that goes uphill. After 100 metres, turn right and take the Kitterlé path, which climbs uphill.
(1) When you reach the first intersection, continue straight ahead, heading south-east. The path then gently winds its way around the valley through the vineyards to another crossroads.
(2) Take the path that climbs the most, slightly to the left, almost straight ahead in fact.
You will then enter the forest, where you must follow a large hairpin bend that brings you back parallel to the path you have just climbed.
(3) At the very end, you will reach the Croix de la Mission. From there, you will have a beautiful view of Guebwiller opposite, Soultz slightly to the left, Issenheim at the foot and to the left, and finally Bergoltz on the far left. You can also see the Alsace plain, the Tour de l'Europe in Mulhouse in the distance and, opposite the plain, Germany and the Black Forest. Opposite Guebwiller, slightly to the right, you can see the Grand Ballon, recognisable by its radar.
From the cross, head north-west and follow the path that runs along the Guebwiller valley, staying at roughly the same altitude.
Continue along this path for about 400 metres. Ignore the first path coming up from below on the far left and take the one that descends a little further on, slightly to the left.
Continue downhill at the next crossroads, taking the path on the left. This leads to a small road on the left, which you should follow.
(1) When you reach a crossroads, you will come back to the part of the road that you took in the opposite direction, i.e. to the right. When you reach the bottom of the main road, you can cross the Lauch bridge again and head towards the car park (E).
You can easily extend the route by not going straight back down to Guebwiller, but instead walking along the edge of the forest on the hillside, which offers other rather pleasant views of the town.
