Departure from the car park opposite the Guebwiller cemetery.
(S/E) Head to the left of the cemetery, pass in front of the chapel, follow the road on the right, then cross it atthe first pedestrian crossing opposite the vineyards and go up the path.
(1) At the intersection, climb left into the vineyards until you reach the forest road and turn left to take the path that climbs to the right. Follow this path until you reach the forest road and follow it to the right until you reach a path on the left that climbs into the vineyards. Find a forest path that continues uphill to the right, follow the main path that curves to the left and continue straight ahead.
(2) At the intersection, turn right and exit the forest. Enjoy the beautiful view of Guebwiller and the Grand Ballon.
(3) Be careful at the junction of several paths: take the path that climbs to the right towards Bergholtz (marked with a red cross). Further on, do not descend to Bergholtz-Zell but climb the (fairly steep) path on the left towards the Bergholtz quarries until you reach a small square with a table and benches.
(4) The pink sandstone quarries, about 30 metres high, are marked on the right; this is also a climbing site. Continue along the path along the cliffs and, at the exit of the site, stay on the path on the right.
(5) At the crossroads, turn left and stay on this path which leads to the Col du Dreibannstein. There is a shelter and picnic tables here.
(6) Continue along the small red disc trail that descends towards Guebwiller.
(7) After crossing the small bridge, take the path that climbs to the left (marked with a yellow disc). Cross the bottom of a gully and find the start of a path on the right.
(8) Descend to the right on this path, heading towards Guebwiller station. Continue along the path until you return to a fork you passed on the way out.
(3) When you leave the forest, take the path to the left, then immediately descend to the right (marked with a yellow disc) towards Croix de Mission and Guebwiller. There is a beautiful view of the Alsace plain, the Black Forest and, on a clear day, the Alps.
(9) From the cross, follow the path on the left to return to the second fork on the way there.
(2) Then descend via the same path you took on the way up, enjoying the view, until you reach the car park (S/E).
