Carrieres Romaines - L'Arbre taillé - Hollowed-out tree trunk serving as drinking trough
Starting from Col du Rousset, head towards the Queyrie valley, where you will find the ancient Roman quarries, the famous carved tree, and a breathtaking view of the Grand Veymont.
This is a fairly long hike, but the landscapes are magnificent, and you may even see marmots and their young, as well as griffon vultures soaring in the sky.
Petit Veymont via Pas du Fouillet

Marmots, ibex and choughs will be there to greet you after the ascent of Pas du Fouillet.
Dogs are strictly prohibited on this hike as it is located in the Vercors high plateau nature reserve.
La Coche - the Roman quarries - Le Pas des Chattons - La Coche
Starting from the Maison Forestière de la Coche, in a magnificent setting, take a long tour of the Vercors highlands via the Plaine de la Queyrie, see the Roman quarries and the carved tree, and encounter (without disturbing them, of course) marmots, griffon vultures, edelweiss, etc., not to mention the herds.
