Via the Saint-Gengoult Fountain and the Brin Pond

Place Saint-Martin car park.

(S/E) From the car park, head along Rue de la Basse Brin, then turn right onto Rue de la Haute Brin,

(1) Just before the cemetery, take the path on the right which goes round a pond. At the road, continue left along the street that runs alongside the housing estate and, at the top of the hill, carry on straight ahead along the small path.

(2) At the road (Rue Saint Jean-Fontaine), turn left and head towards the forest. At the forest, follow the path which curves slightly to the left then to the right until you reach a wide forest track.

(3) Cross this track and take a small grassy path almost directly opposite.

(4) When you reach a T-junction, turn right, then left 150m further on. Follow this path to the edge of the forest. Go round the water tower on the left, go down the path and turn left onto a wide track (do not join the road ahead).

(5) At the entrance to Bey-sur-Seille, turn left onto Rue de Nancy, then immediately right onto Chemin de la Passe, then right onto Rue de l’Église. Cross through Bey-sur-Seille and take Rue Principale on the left. Continue to the bridge and cross it.

(6) Take the path on the right to reach the copse.

(7) Take a detour to see the Fontaine Saint-Gengoult, return to the path, continue left to find a wide track leading up towards Lanfroicourt.

(8) Opposite the church, take the road to the left, then turn right onto Rue des Tilleuls, continue along Rue des Géraniums, pass the car park and continue left onto Chemin de Godelinchamps (a signpost is a little further on), ignoring the paths on the right.

(9) When you reach a Y-junction, continue left, crossing the stream. Climb up to the edge of a park, turn left, then descend steeply to the right.

(10) At the bottom of the hill, do not cross the stream; turn immediately right, stay on this path and ignore the path branching off to the right.

(11) At the edge of the woods, turn left, cross the stream, turn immediately right, then quickly left. Follow this path until you reach the Route Forestière de la Maquignère.

(12) Take it to the right until you reach the Rond Georges crossroads. Turn left and follow the Route de la Cuvelle until you reach a crossroads.

(13) Turn right towards the Étang de Brin. A small path on the right, just before the hunters’ lodge (private), leads you to the bird observatory.

(14) Retrace your steps. At the end of the path, turn right towards the dam on Étang de Brin.

(15) Return to the junction with Route de la Cuvelle.

(13) Continue straight on (^GR®5) until you reach Brin-sur-Seille via Rue de l'Étang and return to the car park at Place Saint-Martin (S/E).

There are no water points along this route.
The only shelter available is the bird observatory; please ensure you respect the peace and quiet of the wildlife.
From the observatory, avoid venturing further into the forest, as the ground is very often flooded.
This route should be avoided during heavy rain or flooding, as it crosses numerous streams.
Please be aware that during the hunting season, the route passes through the villages of Brin-sur-Seille, Bey-sur-Seille and Lanfroicourt.
