Head to the Saint-Lié Chapel: a wooded hill north-west of Ville-Dommange. You can easily park your vehicle there.
(S/E) Return to your starting point, heading south, and drive straight across the departmental road 6 (Rue de Saint-Lié). Head south up a concrete road through the vineyards.
A little over 700 m from the start, the road curves to the left.
Enter the forest at this point, taking the path on the right. A blue cross and a yellow cross on a tree on your left confirm that you are on the right track.
You will then take a grassy path through scattered pine trees. Follow the mountain bike trail markers: "4" in green and "5" in blue.
At the first crossroads, turn left and continue to follow the mountain bike trail onto a wider path.
Continue straight ahead, heading south. You will come to an X-shaped crossroads.
(1) Take the path on your right, following the mountain bike signs (4 and 5). You will follow the edge of the forest, near the clearing of the Ferme Heurtebise.
(2) Continue for more than 250 m past the clearing. Then take the path on the left = mountain bike trails 4 and 5, leaving the signpost for "retour Courmas" on your right
(3) Leave mountain bike trail 4 on your left and continue straight ahead on mountain bike trail 5.
You will then ride alongside a tall, sparse forest of large ash and oak trees.
Continue straight ahead, the path descends slightly, continue straight ahead, leaving the mountain bike trail 5 (which goes to the right).
You will come to a large triangular crossroads with a wide stony forest path.
(4) At the forest path, turn 90° left towards the north-west. Continue in a west-north-west direction. The stony path then turns into a wide grassy lane or "allée sommière"
Follow it on the left-hand side: there are numerous ruts.
You will come to a viewpoint overlooking the village of Ecueil.
(5) At the viewpoint, you will rejoin the VTT 5 trail. Turn left, heading north, between the vineyards and the forest.
From here, the rest of the route is marked by theGR®142.
Continue straight ahead, walking through the woods.
The path follows theGR® and descends at one point, bringing you to a viewpoint overlooking Ville-Dommange.
(6) You are now near a cross and can enjoy a view of the village of Ville-Dommange. Descend towards the village on the right, still following theGR® which follows a concrete path through the vineyards.
(7) You will cross the departmental road 6 (Rue Saint-Lié) again. Take a series of winding, uphill streets: go straight ahead on Rue Ronde, then take Rue des Quatre Vents on your left, which climbs steeply towards the grove. You are now at the foot of the famous Calvary of the Passion at the Chapelle Saint-Lié. You will find your vehicle parked on your left (S/E).
). Be careful too with the recent storms, as trees have fallen and you have to climb over them or crawl underneath.
Great! I'm delighted
