Pampelonne walks

A beautiful excursion for lovers of unspoilt wilderness. Almost the entire hike is on narrow paths, grassy or rocky tracks. The return journey is a rollercoaster ride, mostly through the Gorges du Viaur Sauvage.

From Pampelonne, your steps will take you to the Viaur Valley via the ruins of Château de Thuriès. A beautiful hike, mostly through woods, then along the banks of the Viaur, where you can enjoy the coolness in summer.

Hike in the wild Viaur Valley. Mostly shaded trail with pleasant passages along the Viaur and beautiful views of the valley. Discover the landscapes that inspired the Occitan poet and writer Jean Boudou. Best done in summer as the path along the Viaur is impassable during high water periods.

A beautiful, small but challenging unpaved circuit for a half-day of physical exertion. Although classified as moderately difficult, you will need to be reasonably fit to tackle the rollercoaster ride of the Viaur. Woods, water, views and old stones are here for your viewing pleasure.

The Las Planques chapel is a remarkable example of southern Romanesque art. It is nestled on a rocky promontory in the middle of the woods and majestically overlooks the Viaur Gorges. This long loop is less difficult to access than the one from Pampelonne (published on Visorando). Although classified as moderately difficult, you need to be reasonably fit to cover the distance and tackle the rollercoaster ride of the Viaur.

This circular is part of the Grand 8 route in Ségala Carmausin. You will walk through the Tarn countryside along pretty paths lined with low walls and wooden bridges, enjoying lovely views of the surrounding area.

After descending the rocky path that leads to the banks of the Cérou, follow the river to Pont de Maux. Climb back up to Bellerive, then take the road back to Saint-Jean-de-Marcel.

An excursion in the coolness of the Andouquette. You will be charmed by this stream that will accompany you all along its gorge. You will be surrounded by unspoilt nature.

Perched on its rocky outcrop, Jouqueviel Castle, from the Occitan "joc" meaning perch and "vielh" meaning old, lives up to its name. Its ruins remain a testament to feudal life, having valiantly resisted the ravages of time. You will walk along the banks of the Viaur, which will take you to the 12th-century Chapelle des Infournats, and continue on through the pretty little hamlets of L'Ouradou and Lauretié. Follow the signs for "sentiers de Lauretié L'ouradou".

A hike in the footsteps of the old coal mines.

On the edge of the Viaur valley, this rural hike offers a variety of pleasures. History buffs will not be indifferent to the various sites visited: the Mégalithe du Cheval du Roi, the Chapelle Saint-Amans de Cadoule and, finally, the Roman bridge at Bergougnoux. Nature lovers, meanwhile, will be delighted by the many panoramic views stretching as far as the Monts du Cantal and the Pyrenees, a real treat for the eyes.

This short walk in the hills around Monestiès offers beautiful views of the village and the Ségala mountains. After crossing the Lauzeral forest, the trail winds along the old railway line. Remember to take a torch to get through the unlit tunnel. Yellow markings "La Borie Blanche"

Wild and secretive, the Viaur valley reveals its charms only to the most curious. The Viaur flows peacefully, surrounded by deep gorges and dotted with numerous mills and swimming areas.

Starting from the village of Saint-André de Najac, passing through woods, meadows and hamlets, you will discover the banks of the Viaur on a pleasant loop to the village of Lagarde Viaur, which is well worth a visit. Hiking trail no. 5

Starting from the village of Saint-André-De-Najac, this lovely hike with a few steep climbs and beautiful views will take you through the hamlets of La Boucarie, Granouillet and La Séverie, through woods, along the Viaur River and across the countryside. Hike signposting no. 1

This magnificent and surprisingly unexpected circuit takes place on the outskirts of Albi. Its undergrowth, meadows and small rollercoaster-like hills will quickly make you forget the 900 m of road at the start. The trail takes you down to the Lézert, passing through Puech Miral and Puech Mège, where you can discover the ruins of the Château de Labastide-Vassals and its mill. You will walk through a wild and invigorating landscape.

Partly forest walk down into the Nauze and Viaur valley where the Versailles site is located: a little paradise by the stream, ideal for a picnic, a spot of fishing or simply a break.

The green lung of the Albigeois region, the Saint-Quintin Forest in Cagnac-les-Mines is a paradise for walkers. Located between the Ruisseau de la Mouline stream and the old Albi-Cagnac railway line, this path is appreciated for its tranquillity and bucolic walks. Yellow and white-redGR®36markings.

This short route is ideal for getting back into shape. It is easy and runs alongside the Tarn for long enough to allow for a bit of effort at the end of the route, in the middle of the woods.

This is a circular trail that winds east and west of Cunac, jumping from one stream to another. Along the way, walkers will discover the meadows and valleys of the Albi plateaus.

This hike allows you to discover the Tarn valley between Albi and Ambialet. You will walk from the plateaus to the banks of the Tarn, discovering pretty villages and the hamlet of Nicolaï Greschny.

This hike around Villeneuve-sur-Vère allows you to discover the beauty of the Causse Cordais landscapes. You will walk among white stones, cereal fields and vineyards near local producers: lentils, oil, brandies and Gaillac wines.

The 'Jardin de la Berbie' garden, the Parc Rochegude, a route along the 'Ruisseau du Caussels' stream, a stroll along the Tarn river and, of course, the architectural highlights of Albi beautiful pink city, all enhance this urban tour.

A beautiful hike in the Ambialet Piedmont. Ascents towards Les Puechs and descents through the undergrowth follow one another in a series of gentle undulations. As you descend towards La Condomine and Ambialet, two pretty little villages, you will appreciate the charms and tranquillity of the banks of the Tarn.

A lovely loop that will take you through unspoilt nature, between valleys and hills. Woods and open landscapes punctuate the route until you return to a superb viewpoint over the remarkable isthmus of Ambialet, a splendid peninsula classified as a protected site since 1948. The priory dominates the bend in the Tarn and is the end point of the beautiful Way of the Cross that begins around the Saint-Gilles Chapel, nestled in the rock.

A route that runs along the heights of one of the most beautiful meanders of the Tarn, passing by the Puech du Point de Vue, before descending for a visit to the site of Ambialet.

This circular offers a view of the remarkable isthmus of Ambialet, a peninsula that has been classified as a protected site since 1948. The priory overlooks the circular Tarn and is the end point of the beautiful Way of the Cross, which begins around the Saint-Gilles Chapel, set into the rock. Some fairly sustained effort will be required at the start, but then the route becomes varied, alternating between bucolic landscapes and woodland paths. Finally, a long stretch along the banks of the Tarn itself will provide a welcome opportunity to cool off.

A route through the city to discover the beautiful city of Albi, clad entirely in brick, as you stroll through its streets lined with half-timbered houses.

This short, unpretentious walk offers a glimpse of the countryside, just a stone's throw from the cathedral. This route is pleasant in cool or winter weather, just to get some fresh air. This circular is for those who love the sun and want to keep their shoes clean.

In ancient times, the monks of Bonnecombe Abbey, near Rouergue, used the "Chemin des Moines" (Monks' Path) to transport various products they grew around a barn south of Castanet. This path crosses a landscape of groves, vineyards and traditional buildings that make up the hillsides of Albi. This route is a shortened version of the official 21 km trail.

This pleasant short walk will introduce you to the old village of Castelnau, its tower, its church and other elements of its architectural heritage. You will also discover the ridges among the vineyards, which offer panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and the city of Albi.

On the right bank of the Tarn, Castelnau-de-Lévis is a walk between ridges, plateaus and hills with remarkable views of the surrounding valleys. A beautiful architectural heritage of half-timbered houses, dovecotes, crosses and a castle.
