Enter Yenne and head towards the cemetery. Go behind it and continue climbing. The car park is at the second hairpin bend.
(S/E) Take theGR®9-GR®65marked in white and red, going up at the end of the car park. This is also one of the Chemins de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle (Way of St James) marked with a yellow shell on a blue background. You will soon arrive at Notre-Dame de la Montagne, which watches over you. Make a round trip there and continue on to arrive just after, on the right, at a first viewpoint over the Gorges de la Balme and the natural Rhône river.
(1) At the crossroads, ignore the path on the left that leads to the hamlet of Curtelod and continue on theGR® on the right.
(2) Leave the path that leads to the hamlet of Chevru on the left and continue on theGR® on the right until the next fork.
(3) Leave the path that leads to the hamlet of Chevru on the left and continue on theGR® on the right. On the way up, you will find two viewpoints indicated by signs: the first over the Gorges de La Balme, the Château de Pierre Châtel and the Fort les Bancs, and the second over the Rhône plain.
(4) Leave the path that leads to Pré Cevin on the left and continue on theGR® on the right. A little further on your right is the Croix de Chevru.
(5) At the fork, take the path downhill to the left towards the hamlet of Chevru and leave theGR® and the Way of St James on your right. Descend to the hamlet of Chevru, pass the cross on your left and the wash house on your right (where you can get water).
(6) Then turn left towards a yellow metal shed.
(7) Cross the field and pass to the right of the copse. Continue along the path and rejoin the GR®.
(2) Descend along the same path you took on the way up to return to the car park (S/E).
