Starting point at the Gorges de l'Allier in Pomeyrols
You can discover the beauty of the Allier Gorges in Pomeyrols, a hamlet in the commune of Naussac-Fontanes, situated 8 km north of Langogne.
Lake Langogne and Donozau Waterfall
This hike offers beautiful views of the Naussac Reservoir and the Rac de Langogne, and you can discover the small Donozau waterfall along beautiful paths.
Pradelles - Cheylard-l'Évêque
This is the 4th stage of a complete journey on the Chemin de Stevenson between Le Puy-en-Velay and Alès. This stage marks the transition from the Pays des Puys du Velay, with its open, hilly landscapes, to the Gévaudan, with its more enclosed landscapes and deep woodlands. The route follows the GR®70 (Red and White waymarkers).
The Patus Forest
This route takes you through several typical villages of the Margeride region with their rich and varied heritage, as well as the wonderful Patus Forest where you can enjoy unspoilt nature.
The upper Langouyrou valley via Cheylard-l'Évêque
A very pleasant hike through meadows and woods, the latter being very diverse. There are many landscapes and viewpoints, notably over the Mercoire forest and the Moure de la Gardille. All seasons are interesting: spring with its rushing rivers, summer with its refreshing forests, autumn marked by a symphony of colours.
Cheylard-l'Évêque - Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Abbey
Fifth stage of a complete journey on the Chemin de Stevenson between Le Puy-en-Velay and Alès. This stage includes significant changes to the GR®70 signposting. Alternatives exist, notably to go directly to La Bastide-Puylaurent without passing through Notre-Dame-des-Neiges.
Margeride and its hamlets
Starting from the village of Grandrieu, this hike allows you to discover the small Margeride massif (formerly Gévaudan) and its typical granite villages. The route described was completed in half a day by young people (aged 7 to 11) from the Sentiers en Margeride hiking club. Difficulty: E2/T2/R1 (according to FFrandonnée classification).
Coucouron circular
When it gets too hot in southern Ardèche, hiking in fine weather on the Ardèche plateau can be a good idea. This circular loop starting from a local centre mostly follows farm tracks or small roads, with beautiful views of the volcanic knolls in places.
Le Bouchet-Saint-Nicolas - Pradelles
This route is the third stage of a complete journey on the Chemin de Stevenson between Le Puy-en-Velay and Alès. This is undoubtedly the easiest stage of the tour. The route follows the GR®70 (follow the well-known GR® markings). Please note the route may have been slightly modified from what is shown on the map, in particular to avoid a few short stretches of busy road.
From Arlempdes to Saint-Arcons-de-Barges
This excursion takes you from Arlempdes, listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France since 1999, to Saint-Arcons-de-Barges... for a particularly pleasant stroll.
The rock of Arlempdes
This walk offers a beautiful view of the hilltop village of Arlempdes (pronounced "Arlende"). Listed as one of "The Most Beautiful Villages in France", it occupies a stunning site on a rocky spur overlooking the wild gorges of the Loire.
The path around Lac du Bouchet
An ideal place for a walk, Lac du Bouchet is reminiscent of a Canadian lake. A real gem in its forest setting, this circular lake of volcanic origin occupies the site of an ancient crater.
The suggested route allows you to walk around it. It is a very easy walk that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
Route from Goudet via Camp d'Antoune
Goudet is a crossing point on the Stevenson Trail (GR®70), which intersects with theGR®40, which we took for our departure.
Two notable points of interest: the Moulin du Rocher mill and its organ pipes, and the Camp d'Antoune with its bird's eye view of the Loire.

Lac du Bouchet via Cayres
Starting with a short circular route in the Devès, near Cayres, a visit to Lac du Bouchet, well known to volcanology enthusiasts, is a must.
La Mourade and Le Thort from La Bastide-Puylaurent
A very pleasant, bucolic hike on well-marked paths, with no major technical difficulties.
You will pass through varied landscapes with numerous panoramic views.
Circular routes from La Bastide-Puylaurent to Notre-Dame des Neiges Abbey
Circular Écureuil and Busard loop. Set off along the paths towards Notre-Dame des Neiges Abbey and the Allier Valley. This hike can also be done in the opposite direction.
Notre-Dame-des-Neiges abbey - Chasseradès

The wild Loire at Issarlès
A magnificent discovery of the wild Loire and its tributary, the Orcival, hidden at the foot of Issarlès, with pretty pools, beautiful waterfalls and basalt cliffs. A short and easy hike, but one that still requires good footwear and a minimum of agility to navigate the sometimes slippery slabs along the banks of the Loire.
Watchtower and hot spring of Saint-Laurent-les-Bains
Short route on the heights of Saint-Laurent-les-Bains to the watchtower overlooking the village.
You can enjoy the hot spring (53°C) located in the central square as well as the thermal baths.
Beaume Waterfall
Short circuit to visit the Beaume waterfall. Wear good shoes for the descent to the waterfall. Avoid pushchairs. In summer, you can swim.
Stroll around Saint-Jean-Lachalm
A short hike to discover this village in the Devès region, a Cluniac site.
The Loire Gorges from Onzillon
This route, which takes you up the Loire Gorges for several kilometres, follows a few unmarked paths in a wild and unspoilt environment. Several descents to the banks of the Loire are possible (swimming, fishing) and are indicated in the description. The return via the plateau offers beautiful views.
Tour of Lake Charpal
Hike around Lake Charpal in a completely unspoilt protected natural site. The path does not stray far from the lake, so the elevation gain is very low and the route is easy. Much of the route is through woodland, ideal in summer when it is hot.
Tour of Truc de Fortunio
Tour du Truc de Fortunio, a hike of moderate difficulty due to the limited elevation gain. The scenery is varied: wild and surrounded by nature.

Tour of Lake Charpal
Tour of Lake Charpal in Lozère. An easy route on a relatively flat path, despite being at an altitude of over 1,300 metres. Beautiful views of the lake along the entire route, alternating between forest, meadows and peat bogs.

A lovely hike with little elevation gain. In the distance, the peaks of Mézenc. Alternating meadows, pretty hamlets and forests. Château de Vachères at the start.
Monastier-sur-Gazeille - Le Bouchet-Saint-Nicolas
Second stage of a complete journey along the Chemin de Stevenson between Le-Puy-en-Velay and Alès. It's at Monastier-sur-Gazeille, and thus with this second stage, that Stevenson's real route begins. From this point on, the route follows the GR®70 (Red and White markings). Please note: the markings have been slightly modified from those shown in violet on the IGN map (in particular to avoid a few short stretches of road).
The Mont tour
In Haute-Loire, in the "midlands" of Auvergne, starting from Le Monastier sur Gazeille, take a walk in the French "highlands", as R. L. Stevenson called them in 1878 when he stayed in Le Monastier before embarking on his journey that took him to Saint-Jean du Gard in 12 days with his donkey Modestine.
From the Recoumène Viaduct to the Meyzous Plateau
This hike takes you to the Recoumène viaduct, the village of Monastier-sur-Gazeille and the Meyzous plateau.
The most beautiful part is the crossing of the Meyzous plateau amid meadows and dry stone walls.
Throughout the route, you can admire different views of the Recoumène bridge and the Devès, Meygal and Mézenc mountain ranges.
