(S/E) From the car park, join the D54, turn right then left to go up the small road along the cemetery. Cross the D54 again and climb up the stony path opposite.
(1) At the crossroads, near a house, leave the path and follow a small road opposite.
At the next intersection, turn right and shortly afterwards, turn left (elevation 946) onto the wide path that climbs uphill. Pass two farm buildings and, after a house, join a small road (elevation 1065).
(2) Keep left to take a path that branches off, then cross a small meadow to arrive in front of a low stone wall that forms the corner of a property.
(3) Facing this low wall, turn right, then keep left at the next two intersections. In Coulombs, turn right and continue to take the road on the left lined with an electrical transformer.
At the next intersection, turn left. Then leave the road and go down a path on the left. At the bottom of the path, turn right, then at the next intersection, go up to the right (yellowPR® sign on a tree trunk).
(4) Further on, at the first farm in Villard, turn left once (yellow sign on the wall) then left again to cross the hamlet heading due east.
(5) At the last house, turn right onto a wide dirt track. At the next Y-junction, turn right.
(6) After the descent, turn left towards the village of Saint-Arcons-de-Barges.
(7) Pass the cave, cross the river and head back up towards the village church.
(8) Pass close to the small town hall and continue straight ahead, taking the path that descends (towards the Arlempdes woods circuit).
(9) Cross the Méjanne river using the footbridge. On the other side, turn right to start climbing. At the crossroads in the centre of the hamlet of Pigeyre-Bas, turn right and then take a few steps to the right at the fork that appears immediately.
(10) Be careful at the bread oven: turn immediately left between a wall and a house to follow a path just behind this house. Join a road and turn right.
(11) Shortly afterwards, turn left onto the road between two houses. Then, in front of a farm building (GAEC de la Fromagette), turn left. At the next Y-junction, turn right and then immediately right onto a path that descends to Les Hermes to reach a road. At the crossroads, turn left once and then, a little further on, left again to climb towards some houses.
(12) Opposite a garage, turn right onto a path that enters the forest. Cross the woods following the yellow markings. Descend through the woods to Mas de la Faye and continue downhill to join the Rd54.
(13) Follow the road to the left to cross the bridge over the Méjeanne.
(14) Immediately after, leave the road and turn left onto a small paved road that continues as an uphill path. A little further up, at an intersection (signpost), take a sharp right turn onto a path to reach the foot of a cross
(15). Continue downhill to the D54 departmental road and continue on the left to return to the car park at the start (S/E)
I retraced my steps several times but to no avail. Finally, I took another path and found the Visorando route in the forest. I must have been momentarily distracted.
