Description of the walk

(S) Coming from Saint-Baslemont, continue straight on along the old Roman road until the next junction with the D15 on a downhill stretch.

(1) Follow the D15 to the right. At the junction with the D25b, take the path on the right and head straight on until you reach the road.

(2) Take the road on the left. Follow it to the junction with the D406A.

(3) Follow the D406A to the right. Take thefirst street on the left into Aureil-Maison.

(4) Pass to the right of the chapel via Rue de Bondice. On leaving the village, at a large farm, keep to the right and continue to a three-way junction in front of a farm building.

(5) Take the track on the left. Follow it for a long way until you reach a road.

(6) Turn left. Continue until you reach a path starting on the right at the right-hand bend on the descent.

(7) Head up the path on the right. After about 400 m, take a more or less well-defined gully on the left. The path descends into a small valley, veers slightly to the left and crosses the source of the Apance. You’ll reach a path branching off to the right.

(8) Turn right. A little further on, continue along a track. This leads onto a road which you follow to a picnic area with a shelter on the left

(9) Take the path on the left towards the shelter. Pass to the left of it and reach the far end of the picnic area. Take thesecond path on the right at the edge of the cliff and join a road at the Maison Forestière de l’Écureuil.

(10) Turn left and enter Serqueux. In front of the old fire station, take the street on the right and join the Grande Rue. Turn left and reach a square in front of the Town Hall and the church

(11) Turn right, walk past the church, then take thesecond right, Rue du Chatelet. Further on, turn right onto Rue des Bordes and follow it until thesecond left.

(12) Turn left. At the next Fork in the road, keep left and follow the tarmac road, which ends in a descent at a junction with three paths.

(13) Take the path that climbs to the left and joins the D139 at the Haut Pont farm.

(14) Follow the D139 to the right and enter Lamarche via Rue des Capucins. At the junction, continue straight on until you reach Rue Chevandier de Valdrome. Turn right, then immediately left, and arrive at Place de Verdun in front of the church (E).

Notes

The route is generally well signposted and follows theGR®® 7. It is a little unclear at the picnic area above Serqueux at (10); follow the signs carefully.

Water points: after , a freely accessible tap in the small park behind the Chapelle d’Aureil-Maison.

Accommodation: Several hotels and guesthouses in Bourbonne-les-Bains; contactthe Tourist Office.

Wild camping: after Aureil-Maison, between (5) and (6) if you have extendedthe previous stage. Before the climb into the forest, there is a meadow to the left of the road (however, the spot lacks privacy). Options are slightly more limited in the forest.
