Description of the walk

Start opposite the church in Relanges, next to the lower wash house.

(S/E) Walk past the church and cemetery on your right (GR®7), climbing slightly towards the centre of the village.

(1) After about 250m, leave theGR®7at the "road narrows" sign and turn left onto a path marked with a yellow circle (Rue du 27 août 1944). Enter the forest and head north-northwest (path not shown on the IGN map). You will come to a track; follow it to the right for a few metres.

(2) At the crossroads of four paths, including theGR®7, turn left opposite (GR®7), following the sign for Bonneval. The route is also marked with a yellow circle.

(3) Reach La Roche des Apôtres (information panel) and continue along the same path.

(4) At the crossroads, take the path on the right (GR®7, yellow circle) which leads to the ruins of the Priory of Bonneval and a more recent chapel (information panel).

(5) Leave theGR®7by taking the path marked with a yellow circle to the left of the recent chapel (behind the information panel).

(6) Arrive at the ancient Celtic camp, also known as an "oppidum". An information panel is located about 30 metres to the left of the entrance on a wide path.
Follow the circular route through the camp marked by blue arrows. Blue dots numbered on trees indicate points of interest.

(7) Leave the camp via the path marked with a yellow circle (wide forest road). You will find the information panel mentioned above about 30 metres to the left as you leave the camp. Continue along this path, following the yellow circle.

(8) At the crossroads where there is a hut, leave the path marked with a yellow circle on the right and then turn left onto a wide unmarked path.

(9) At the crossroads, turn left, go through the red and white metal barrier and continue straight ahead.

(10) Return to the path marked with a yellow circle. Continue straight ahead and follow the path to the next crossroads.

(11) Leave the path that descends to the right and continue straight ahead, following the path marked with a yellow circle. You will reach a crossroads with four paths.

(2) Follow the path opposite, marked with a yellow circle,GR®7also marked with a yellow circle. Descend to the village church. Pass in front of the upper wash house, then reach the church at the starting point.

(S/E) Follow theGR®7towards Lichecourt, with your back to the lower wash house. Cross the D164 departmental road. TheGR®7follows the Lichecourt road (which is not very busy). Pass two forest houses and reach the entrance to Lichecourt Castle.

(12) Leave the château on your right and continue to the four-way crossroads.

(13) Turn left, staying on theGR®7(at the "give way" road sign). After crossing the meadows, the path enters the forest.

(14) At the edge of the forest, leave theGR®7by turning left onto a small, unmarked tarmac road. Follow this path to a crossroads where you will find a yellow metal post marked with the number 301.

(15) Turn right, passing in front of this sign. Walk through a small forest. At the edge of the forest, the path ends.

(16) Turn left and walk along the edge of the woods, bordering the field, for about 200 metres.

(17) You will arrive at the ruins of the Barcan Hermitage (information sign). Turn back to return to the yellow post marked 301.

(15) Pass the post and continue straight ahead. (This section of the path is sometimes muddy).

(18) At the crossroads, take the wide path on the right and at the next crossroads, turn left onto a large forest track (Tranchée du Saule).
When you reach the crossroads with the Route de Lichecourt (GR®7), turn right towards Relanges and follow theGR®7. Cross the D164 departmental road and head for the church at the lower wash house (S/E).

The detailed description compensates for some gaps in the signposting.
The signposting does not appear on the IGN map, even though it was purchased recently.
The northern section is very beautiful and interesting, with paths sometimes broken up by wild boar wallows, but that's nature.
The southern section is best avoided as the castle is not very interesting and three-quarters of the route is paved. There may be alternatives.
The church, a little gem of Romanesque art in the southern Vosges, is a must-see.
Farmer who processes his milk and sells very good cheeses.
Ferme de la Fontenelle (if we can do a little advertising)
Overall, very satisfied.

Rock of the Three Apostles magnificent, Bonneval Priory still has some beautiful remains...(too few, unfortunately), the St Claire spring (a beautiful spot), Oppidum... (meh!!!) The signage is missing in places, especially where there are hunters' watchtowers... We only did the first part (yellow ring). The church in Relanges is also worth seeing.

Well-marked trail with remarkable sites that make the hike very interesting! We only did the northern circular and spent some time at the oppidum site. The ruined abbey is also very poetic.

This hike is well described, but we had some doubts about the route after visiting the oppidum. The path is very well marked and allows you to discover unexpected historical treasures. We only did the "yellow circle" section because it was very hot and the return trip was less pleasant: a wide path with white stone ground that reflected a lot of the sun, which was a bit tedious and much less interesting. However, I recommend visiting the church in Relanges, which is a little gem. Anne

A very pleasant hike, only partially completed (first circular from 1 to 11 – return to Relanges) due to lack of time.
We met a group of local hunters (near no. 8) who were very welcoming, bought us drinks and with whom we had some great conversations about hunting, society, the Yellow Vests, etc.
Thank you, Raykvisio.

A lovely walk in the forest, at least for the first circular, with interesting historical points of interest to enhance the walk. It's a shame that the Celtic camp isn't better showcased!

Hello,
We have just discovered this little corner of the Vosges and we really liked it. There are some beautiful sights to see, such as the Apostles' Stone, Bonneval Abbey and the church in Relanges. It's well worth a visit.
We made a round trip to the Source Sainte Anne, which was interesting.
Be careful around the Celtic camp, as the blue arrow markings are difficult to find and even non-existent in some places. I admit that we got a little confused at this point, but reading the map carefully helps you find your way. The site map provided on site is not very clear in relation to the actual route.
We found the second circular a bit tedious. Lichecourt Castle can only be seen from a distance, and the Barcan Hermitage requires a rather long walk along the road.

So, for hikers and hiking guides like us, there is one downside: there is far too much tarmac and dirt roads. It's a shame.

We met some very nice people in Relanges who were happy to give us a whole bunch of documents about the region. That's the pleasure of meeting people in these charming little villages.

Thank you for this wonderful discovery.

(5) Right next to the chapel are the ruins of Bonneval Priory.

You can take a short 200-metre detour along the path between the chapel and the oppidum to see the St Claire spring.

In the village of Relanges, there are also a few curiosities to be seen on some of the houses, particularly on Rue des Moises and Rue des Loups.

A drinking water supply is also available in the village in front of the wash house at the top of the village near the Sciebois company.

Enjoy your walk.

Hello, the lines on the map seem a bit thick to me and obscure the details of the map. Nice walk, I recommend it.
