Description of the walk

Park in the via ferrata car park south of Luc-en-Diois.

(S/E) Cross the bridge and take the path on the right. Pass the access path to the via ferrata. Follow the main path to reach the railway line.

(1) Continue towards Clamontard, indicated on an old sign. Begin the ascent and reach a crossroads at a place called Champ Trousset.

(2) Take the path on the left and begin a series of tight hairpin bends. You will reach the paragliding take-off area.

(3) Continue climbing along the ridge on the track to reach the highest point.

(4) Stay on the track and descend to reach a crossroads in a hairpin bend.

(5) Keep left on this track, following several hairpin bends to reach the hamlet of Salles.

(6) Take the path on the left, indicated by a small wooden sign. Reach the top of this climb.

(7) Continue downhill, then turn right at the hairpin bend. You will reach the crossroads with the via ferrata return path and then the D93 road.

(8) Turn left and follow the road safely behind the barriers provided for this purpose. You will then reach the via ferrata car park (S/E).

Notes

(3) There is a picnic table at the summit.
Please note that the kilometre of open ridge walk is long; best avoided in summer. The descent along the track is a bit monotonous but necessary.
Please note that the PR® trail to the summit is not very well maintained: some sections, particularly in the scree, are unstable/poorly marked. In addition, the markings have been partially erased by time.
Some sections are relatively vertiginous.

Worth a visit

(1) You can descend to the Claps footbridge and admire the impressive viaduct (which is an inaccessible railway line) from closer up.
Swimming in the Drôme is permitted but unsupervised, and there is a risk of sudden rises in water levels (see signs).

Always be cautious and plan ahead when you're outdoors. Visorando and the author of this route cannot be held responsible for any accidents occurring on this route.

Nice hike. Steep climb to the paragliding take-off point. The rest of the hike and the descent are easy.
Please note: if you are in the car park marked "Via ferrata" (after the bridge coming from Die), do not cross the bridge; the start is on the left. Apart from this detail, the description is very clear
After the via ferrata trail, I didn't see anyone

A pleasant climb that quickly gains height in the forest. Beautiful views on the way up and at the top. The "driveable track" section may seem a little long, but once you leave it, you come to a very pretty path through the woods. The last 30 metres require caution as the gravel is unstable.
But a very nice discovery away from an overcrowded area...

Taken in five hours, the descent is rather long, with magnificent views of the ridge, a must-do.

A very rewarding hike: the Claps, the panoramic views, and the elevation gain! We did it at the end of winter and it was magnificent, but in spring it must be even more beautiful!

Great hike. The start is in the forest, so it's completely shaded until point 3. At this point, the view is magnificent and there are picnic tables where I recommend eating. Between points 3 and 5, the trail is a bit monotonous and very sunny, so be careful in the middle of summer. As you approach the hamlet at point 6, you take a small path and it becomes very pretty again.
I'm not a very experienced hiker, and it took my husband and me four hours, including a lunch break, so it's an accessible hike. However, there aren't many marked trails, but with the app, it's very easy to find your way around and there's little chance of getting lost.

In conclusion, I recommend it 😊
