Mazaugues walks

It is possible to enjoy a lovely walk in Mazaugues without climbing all the way up to Mourre d’Agnis: the ridges of the Petite Colle, which overlook the village, offer superb views along their entire length, with several options for reaching them.

The chapel overlooks the entrance to the Caramy Gorges next to Tourves. Saint Probace came to evangelise Provence in the1st century AD and is said to have died in Tourves. Perched on a hill that is quite difficult to access, we chose to approach it from the Route de Mazaugues, which is easier, to the west of Tourves.

A short route that climbs up to the summit of the Loube mountain where you can enjoy a panoramic view over the sea and Alps. A wonderful walk with every step!

This challenging hike alternates between caves, springs, dolomite formations, rocky fissures, the remains of a few castrums, a remote chapel and old pastoral settlements, all of which this route invites you to discover. From the ridges, the view stretches far into the distance; the landscape is striking and ever-changing.

This little-known route, which takes you deep into the heart of the Agnis plateau, will introduce you to some highly original sheepfolds that ingeniously make use of arches and other unusual rocks.You will also find some more traditional sheepfolds, some in ruins and others still standing, as well as other structures whose purpose is unclear.All this rural heritage is accessible by straying slightly from the more frequented paths, sometimes onto barely visible tracks, which require careful attention to follow.An easily accessible small karstic cave, rocks with distinctive shapes, unusual trees and a few 360° viewpoints over the surrounding hills complete the picture.

A lovely hike, best done in spring: the rockroses and asphodels are absolutely beautiful! For experienced hikers, the cumulative elevation gain is significant.

A day's hike starting in the hills above La Roquebrussane, climbing La Loube and then L'Amarron before descending into the valleys at the foot of Pinebron and ending at the Notre-Dame Chapel.

In hot weather, it is pleasant to walk along tree-lined paths and enjoy the coolness of the river.
