The Crêtes de la Warche from Xhoffraix
A splendid hike along the Warche ridges, offering superb panoramic views of the region. The highlight is the beautifully renovated Reinhardstein Castle. In the early 1970s, it was a real ruin that we never imagined would be reborn in such a way! The first 2 kilometres of the walk take place in the countryside. The rest is almost entirely forest, passing notably by the rocky outcrop known as 'Nez de Napoléon', the Robertville dam, the Kalbusch Mill (campsite and tavern open from Thursday to Sunday) and the impressive Warche Quarry.

Bayehon Walk - Mill and Waterfall
A pleasant walk that will take you to the Bayehon Waterfall, the second largest in Belgium. It is fed by the Hautes Fagnes springs, so its flow varies depending on the season. The route takes you through different types of vegetation, from deciduous trees to pines and the Fagne. Most of the route follows streams, which are crossed numerous times by small bridges.

The Malchamps fens
Walk in the Malchamps Fagnes region through peat bogs, forests and meadows. Set off at sunrise with the sound of deer bellowing in the background.
The Balade des Gens Heureux in Sourbrodt (Waimes)
A very pleasant, signposted walk starting from the Eau Noire car park. The route is completely flat and easy in the Hautes Fagnes, with part of it on duckboards. The only downside is that, depending on the wind direction, you may be able to hear the Spa-Francorchamps route in the distance if it is in use, as is the case for all walks in the region.
Between the Hautes Fagnes and secret valleys from the Noire Eau
This hike takes you to the heart of a demanding and authentic natural environment, where water shapes the landscape and the wind preserves the memory of places. Former military camps, Germanic-influenced place names and rugged terrain tell a story marked by borders and time.Peat bogs formed after the last ice age, acidic soils and schistose rocks make up the typical landscape of the Hautes Fagnes. Clear streams, dark rivers laden with peat and cold springs accompany the walk.Deep forests, open moors and clearings follow one another, sheltering discreet fauna and specialised flora. A hike that is both wild and soothing, ideal for celebrating a special moment in an unspoilt landscape.
On the roof of Belgium
This hike on the Hautes Fagnes plateau in the Hautes-Fagnes-Eifel Natural Park will take you to the highest point in Belgium, where you can discover its unique flora and landscape. The hike is more enjoyable during the week (fewer people) in good weather or when there is snow on the ground.
Family walk starting from Baraque Michel
A walk with varied landscapes in the Hautes Fagnes Nature Park.
There are many walks to enjoy in this region with its extraordinary landscapes.
I invite you to discover the hike we did as a family in July 2019. The children enjoyed the watchtowers, the duckboards, the streams... We even saw a deer.
If necessary, it is possible to shorten this route.
It is an easy hike as there is little elevation gain, but the path is uneven in places.
Tour du Noir Flohay
Discover Noir Flohay, a group of petrified pine trees. In the middle of this landscape typical of the Hautes Fagnes, the return journey is along the Helle, a small river that rises in the Fagnes. There are two possible shortcuts, for circuits of approximately 7 and 13 km respectively.
Solwaster Sawe
The route is marked (yellow rectangles) and shown on the "Jalhay-Spa-Stavelot-Theux" walking map, available from the Tourist Office. The first half is a superb walk (with a few difficult and potentially slippery sections) along the Sawe. The second half (when you leave the Sawe) is the return to Solwaster on a more relaxing but more mundane path. There is also the option of a longer 8.5 km version (blue rectangles).
From La Statte to La Hoëgne in Solwaster
Solwaster, a small village at the foot of the fagne, 16 km from Verviers, is unique in that it is located between two of the most beautiful rivers in the fagne: the Statte, which rises in the peat bogs of the Hautes-Fagnes, in the Wihonfagne fagne, and the Hoëgne, which rises in the Polleur fagne. These two rivers welcome us into a magical landscape of fens and forests.
From La Sawe to La Statte along the water
The Sawe and the Statte are two beautiful streams that cascade down from the Fagnes plateau and converge near the village of Solwaster. The ascent of the Sawe is surprising for the diversity of views in the forest and valley. The only thing missing is the Nutons. After crossing the Fagne and its typical open landscapes, you reach the Statte, which you descend along its waterfalls. Water is omnipresent on this route.
