Head to Saumane-de-Vaucluse and park in the castle car park.
(S/E) From the car park, turn right uphill onto the Chemin de Saint-Gens, which is marked in yellow and red (GRP®).
Further up, an oratory indicates the signpost on the right-hand path, which runs alongside a beautiful dry stone wall. After about 500m, the path turns into a trail and heads off to the right. After climbing up and when the path arrives at an open platform with several paths, follow the GRP® signpost that heads off opposite on a slight descent.
(1) Follow the signs (GRP®) that lead off to the left and slightly downhill. A little further on, turn left onto a track, pass cistern no. 128, then continue right on the marked trail.
(2) When you reach Bourguigne, leave theGRP® and follow the yellow markings on the right towards Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and Rocher des Trois Luisants. The stony path leads to the heights of Saumane-de-Vaucluse.
(3) At the Rocher des Trois Luisants crossroads, turn right onto theGR®, towards Les Trois Luisants and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.
(4) When you reach Les Trois Luisants, turn right onto the track towards Poste de vigie and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. This flat section leads to a fire lookout point used in summer, but which remains a magnificent viewpoint all year round.
(5) Once you reach the lookout post, descend the path that branches off to the right of the post towards Mourre Pelé. The path ends in a rather unpleasant scree slope and arrives at a large cairn. Turn left to climb a little and arrive at some rocks overlooking the Vallon de Valescure. Follow the markings on the right, which will take you into the forest to another cairn.
(6) Descend to the left towards the Vallon de Valescure. Follow the markings to the Ferme de Valescure (which has been undergoing renovation by volunteers for several years).
(7) Follow the path downhill which provides access to the farm. Further down, continue on a path to the right of the road to reach the Valescure sign.
(8) Turn right onto the track towards Saumane and Les Fayardes. Leave a track on your right and continue on this section of track which joins the Les Fayardes crossroads.
(9) Continue right towards Saumane and Les Lauses. 150 m further on, a cairn indicates a path to the right (GRP®). When the path crosses a paved road, continue straight ahead (signs are not very visible). The path runs along a stone wall and arrives at the Les Lauses sign.
(10) Turn left towards Malaisan and after 20 metres you will see the Malaisan sign. Turn right here towards Saumane, leaving theGRP® and following the yellow markings which will take you to the village.
(11) Once in the village, turn right onto Montée du Château to return to the car park where you started (S/E).

. But four days later, I did it the right way round.
