Description of the walk

Start at the top of the Chemin des Pésades: park about 600 m before the end of the road.

(S/E) Walk up the Chemin des Pésades to the junction with the Fayardes track.

(1) Turn left onto the track which descends slightly. You will come to a junction (the return route is on the right).

(2) Continue along the wide track, pass a cistern and climb up to the junction with the Grand Puymians track.

(3) Follow this track to the right for about 200 m.

(4) Leave the track and turn right onto theGR® de Pays du Tour des Monts du Vaucluse (yellow and red markings).

(5) At Les Rochers Rouges, continue to the right until you reach the junction with the Rocher track.

(6) Take this track to the right: from here, you can see Mont Ventoux. Continue to the junction with a signpost indicating “watchtower 638 m” and the return route: “Mourre Pelé 1.3 km”.

(7) The lookout post (watchtower on the IGN map) is a few metres past this signpost (view over the Avignon plain). Then follow the sign for "Mourre Pelé", but be careful, as the descent is quite steep. At the bottom of the descent, you will see a cairn: stay on the path to the right. At the "Mourre Pelé" signpost, turn right and continue down the slope to rejoin the Fayardes track.

(2) Head up the track to the left.

(1) Turn right and follow the path you took on the way out to return to the car park (S/E).

It’s a trail hike – we knew that from the start, so no surprises there.
The climb up to the lookout is gentle and long, so take the time to admire the scenery, turning around or gazing into the distance...
A lovely descent over scree after the lookout point, with a steep drop, giving our legs a good workout...

Very well. Just a quick point: the map in the technical data sheet is missing a strip at the top and a strip at the bottom. It is precisely in these two areas that there are major junctions.

It’s a shame we couldn’t follow the route by starting the hike. The route is only approximate. And we had to use a different app.

A lovely hike in glorious sunshine
The descent on the way back isn’t difficult, but you need to stay alert on the scree slopes
You need to add 4 km (2 out, 2 back) as it’s impossible to climb up to the starting point – a lovely climb to get your legs going
Thank you for this route
