Park in the small village square, between the bakery and the bar.
(S/E) Go through the tunnel. At the tunnel exit, turn left and go up. Cross the Pignes train tracks. Follow the Way of the Cross that climbs up to the left towards the Chapelle de Vers la Ville.
(1) Further on, at a small bridge well before the chapel (which is private property), continue straight ahead, following the sign for the Chambre du Roi (marked with a yellow cross). Follow the path uphill to pass a pretty little multicoloured waterfall set back a little on the left. Continue after crossing the Gastres canal to rejoin the yellow signposted path. Take it on the right and you will reach the Espaluns shelter.
(2) Continue climbing to reach the crossroads at Les Portettes, a spot marked by an arch formed by two sandstone blocks that appear to be embracing each other. Pass under the arch and turn right to begin the descent. You will soon reach a crossroads.
(3) Turn left to reach a superb viewpoint. It is a huge rock slab. Cross thefirst slab, keeping to the left, to reach a small path and then the large slab, which you can follow along its ridge, taking great care not to fall.
(4) Descend and rejoin the previous path.
(3) Take it on the left, then follow the yellow PR® markings. Make a large loop to the right to reach a camp with a hut and outdoor facilities. Continue along a sandstone ledge, taking care as this section is not secured. Those prone to vertigo and children should exercise caution. You will arrive at the King's Chamber. Here you will find the Guardian of Annot, indicated by a marker. You will need to turn around to see him.
(5) Leave this chamber through the passage between two rocks, then access the Jardin du Roi. Make a large loop and return to the Roubines at the exit.
(6) Cross them carefully as the passage is a little tricky if you are prone to vertigo. Always follow the yellowPR® markings and take the last winding descent to return to the railway line.
(7) Follow it to the right, pass the station, then turn left onto Avenue de la Gare to reach the car park in the village square (S/E) by passing under the SNCF bridge.
