Park in the car park at Baisse de Tueis, just before the road splits and becomes one-way, next to a memorial to those who died during the Second World War.
(S/E) Take the path that climbs above the road and follows the ridge towards Pointe des Trois Communes.
After a few minutes, you will reach the ridge at the edge of the larch forest and continue climbing in the same direction.
Turn left when you reach a minor peak and head for a pass at an unnumbered marker.
(1) Take the leftmost path, which remains high up and passes above an old military garrison.
Pass marker 410 and reach the Fort de la Redoute de la Pointe des Trois Communes, the highest point of the Authion.
(2) Descend a few metres and turn left onto the track that leads back to the road, then follow it around the summit of La Forca.
(3) At a wide pass, turn left to make a round trip to Fort des Mille Fourches. Take the track that climbs to the right under the larch trees and goes around the fort to the west. Pass another garrison to reach this old semi-buried fort of the Séré de Rivières system.
(4) It is forbidden to enter this old, unmaintained structure. Return to the previous fork (elevation 1986).
(3) Then climb up the other side of the pass via the winding path leading to Fort de la Forca, built by the same architect and with an almost identical layout.
(5) Walk along the left side of the fort and head to the orientation table, which offers a beautiful view of the main peaks of the Vallée des Merveilles: Cime du Diable, Grand Capelet and Mont Bégo.
Then continue straight ahead to return to the unnumbered marker encountered on the ascent.
(1) Turn left to take the reverse route of the outward journey and walk along the ridge to descend to the car park (S/E).
