The starting point is at the Faux car park, near the Saint-Basle Chapel.
Please note: the route is marked in yellow in places and very rarely in white and red. Pay attention and study the map carefully, using your compass if necessary.
(S/E) When you leave the car park, turn right (south-east) onto a paved road and follow it for about 250 metres.
(1) At the fork, turn left onto the Route Forestière du Coutron. After passing a path on the left, ignore the first path on the right (not shown on the 1:25,000 map).
(2) Take the second road on the right, where there is a barrier allowing pedestrian access. Follow the road lined with wooden barriers (to protect the vegetation). Cross two perpendicular roads and pass in front of the Fau de la Demoiselle.
(3) Continue along the path (south then west). Cross a wide road and turn right at the fork that follows. At the crossroads, take the wide path on the left. At the end, turn right onto the paved road and follow it for a few metres.
(4) Take the path on the left at a 90° angle (south-west). Pass in front of the Fau Saint-Basle and then the Chêne Fau. Cross another path and continue straight ahead. At the end, turn left onto the Route Forestière des Pins. Follow it to the roundabout, ignoring the paths on either side.
(5) Cross the Route Forestière du Grippet and continue on the Route Forestière des Pins for about 200 metres. Then turn into the first grassy path on the right. Follow this grassy path south-west for about 500 metres.
(6) Turn left and go up the wide path that leads to a paved road, the Route Forestière de la Forêt Royale. Follow it all the way, south-south-east, then south and finally south-east.
(7) At the end, take the path on the left that enters the woods. Follow it and ignore all the paths on the left and right. Pass the wayside cross and continue north-northeast.
(8) After passing a small stream, take a path on the left (north-west). This path is uneven for a few hundred metres, then becomes flatter and straighter. This section is largely deforested. Pass a small stream and turn right at the next crossroads (elevation 282).
(9) At the end, turn left onto the Route Forestière des Faux. Cross the Route Forestière du Grippet and continue straight ahead on the Route Forestière des Faux. Pass in front of the Fau de Trépail. At the next fork, turn right.
(10) Shortly afterwards, turn left onto the paved road, which is still the Route Forestière des Faux de Verzy. Ignore all the paths on the right and continue to the junction you passed on the way there.
(4) Continue straight ahead on the Route Forestière des Faux de Verzy, first heading north-west, then north-north-east.
(11) At the end, continue to follow the same road on the left and reach the fork you took on the way there.
(1) Continue straight ahead to the north-west until you reach the Faux car park (S/E).
