Park in the small square opposite the wash house. There is another car park 200 m from the start of the route, going up between the wash house and the church.
(S/E) Take Route de Marguerie between the wash house and the church to climb up to the stone house on the side of the road.
(1) On the right, at the end of the boxwood alley, there is a gate. Take the path that starts after the pile of wood. The path becomes visible at the fork. Stay on the right-hand path.
(2) On the plateau, turn right onto the wide path and continue straight ahead on this main path, ignoring all the paths that branch off to the right.
The path turns left, and a path branches off to the right. Leave this path and walk along the corner of a field of truffle oaks surrounded by wire fencing. From here, be careful.
(3) 10 to 15 metres after the end of this fenced field, leave the main road and climb up to the right through the short grass. This path is not very visible at first. Follow the path that runs alongside the field, then away from it, zigzagging through the oak trees to reach thefirst ridge, the Crête du Mont Laroche. Follow it to the left.
(4) At the end of the steep descent, turn right and follow the path that leads to the road. Turn left, then right towards the sign for the medieval site.
Leave the paved road and take the path on the right towards the electricity pole. At the crossroads, go straight ahead and pass the small house. At the signpost, follow the direction: Serre Pointu.
(5) At the second signpost for Serre Pointu, take the path on the left that climbs further up towards Château de Rochefort 0.7 km.
You will reach the Crête de L'Izard
(6) You will arrive at the foot of the castle. Climb the hill towards the cross to admire the view. Explore the area at your leisure before returning to the starting point (6)
Take the path towards the car park and cross it, following the fenced field. Turn left at the end of the field and go up alongside the fence on your left. Follow the path that climbs and then descends immediately.
(7) At the stony crossroads, turn right and the path descends again. At the second crossroads, turn right. The climb is steep but short.
At the top, take the path on the left, which descends steeply. At the bottom, turn right onto the road, continue for 50 m, leave the tarmac and turn onto the path on the left. Stay on the main path.
(8) At the fork, take the path on the right that descends slightly and runs alongside the truffle fields of Janeston.
At the next fork, leave the path that climbs and turn right. The path descends slightly.
(9) Leave the road that climbs to the left, forming a semicircle at the edge of the woods, and continue straight ahead on the flat road that enters the pine forest.
Turn right onto the main path, made of white pebbles, in the undergrowth, which descends to the paved path indicated on a sign: Moulin Neuf, at La Verrière.
Go down to the left towards Moulin de Bay.
(10) When you reach the last house, you will see a sign on a stone indicating Le Mazet de Citelle. Turn left onto the stone path that climbs up and runs alongside the property.
Keep the chicken coop behind the large cherry tree in front of you. The path climbs up to the right. At the top, you will arrive on the plateau. Turn right onto the road you took on the way there.
(2) Go down to the left to the village of La Touche. In the village, take the road on the right, then immediately take the path on the right. At the road, Chemin du Chaix, turn left and go to the small square opposite the wash house (S/E).
. No difficulties encountered (including with a 9-year-old child). Beautiful 360° views. The castle ruins are nice, but not all areas are accessible due to the risk of rockfalls.
