Park near Rochefort-en-Valdaine Castle and the cemetery.
(S/E) Opposite the cemetery, take the path on the left down to the crossroads: signposted "Château de Rochefort".
(1) Turn right towards Fontagrèse. The path passes below the castle, then turns left and descends towards the bottom of the valley. Take the road on the right and cross the bridge over the Ruisseau de Citelles stream.
(2) At the corner of the stone house, leave the road and go up the path opposite along the wall, then take the path on the left a hundred metres further on. It climbs up the ridge and reaches the Fontagrèse crossroads (altitude 250m).
View of the Château de Rochefort-en-Valdaine and its motte-and-bailey castle. Continue left towards Moulin Neuf; the path crosses fields of Mediterranean plants. Descend the track on the left for about a hundred metres, then take the path on the right that leads to the bottom of the thalweg (captured spring). Climb left up the path and rejoin a forest track.
(3) Follow it to the left and join the D4. Cross the bridge and take the Chemin du Moulin Neuf on the right to the place called La Verrière.
(4) After the house at La Verrière, leave the road at the bend and follow the path straight ahead, which climbs up through a meadow and then into the bottom of the valley. The path climbs in two hairpin bends before joining a wider track surrounded by crops at a place called Janeston.
(5) Turn left at the crossroads and continue to the next junction. Keep left and join the D127. Make a quick right/left turn to take Chemin de la Combe.
(6) Before the houses in the hamlet, take the track on the right which climbs up the hillside and leads to the first crossroads at the start of the hike.
(1) Continue straight ahead to reach the castle car park (S/E).
