Park in the town hall square in Cénevières.
(S/E) Follow the yellow markings westwards along the road for about 600 m.
(1) At the water treatment plant, climb left onto the southbound path, then turn right towards the west, climbing up to the "Cévenne" (cliff) of Cornus overlooking the Lot. Panoramic view of the Lot valley.
(2) Turn left with the yellow markings for 100 m towards the south-west as long as the path is lined with low walls.
(3) Leave the marked trail and follow the carriage road (gentle descent) to the left, towards the east, for 600 m to reach another carriage road.
(4) Make a short detour to the left to see an engraved plaque inserted into the wall in honour of Émile, who died while herding sheep in February 1948.
Turn around and continue for 800 m along the track, which climbs up overlooking the valley on the left and offers a distant view to the east.
(5) 50 m before the houses, take the road on the right and follow it to the end (private entrance to a recent building). At this point, it joins a path lined with low walls that goes around the property to the right. Follow this path to the tarmac road.
(6) Take the tarmac road downhill to the left. After 500 metres, at the crossroads (cross), turn right, then after 200 metres, follow the road to the left towards the Ygots farm. Follow this road for 1.5 kilometres.
(7) At the Croix des Courdouilles, look for a beautiful caselle (stone hut) on the right. Continue along the road opposite, heading south-east for 500 m.
(8) At the three-way junction, turn left onto the path and follow it for 500 m. At the road, turn left towards the hamlet of Roquecave and cross it.
(9) On leaving the village, first turn right then left and walk 500 metres there and back to the Roquecave fountain, a cool spot in summer!
(10) Retrace your steps to Roquecave at the end of the road.
(9) Turn right and continue along the path that follows the ledge above the Combe du Soldat below, then leave this ledge, gradually turning westwards. At the T-junction, turn right towards Mas de Goyre.
(11) Below a large meadow, below Mas de Goyre, turn right onto the path that descends towards Combe du Soldat. Follow the D24 tarmac road to the right for 200 m towards the south and cross it to take a path on the left just before the bend, which climbs back up towards the south-east under the trees. Follow this path to a fountain at the crossroads.
(12) Turn left to reach the hamlet of Pech Blanc.
(13) At the entrance to the hamlet, take the path to the left, then turn left and after 30 m turn right to cross the path between the meadows to the Gouffre de Pech Blanc (descent possible, a rare trickle of water at the bottom depending on the season).
(14) Continue climbing up to the tarmac road, follow it to the left, then take the parallel path on the left and the road again to the Peyre Gages dolmen (about 1 km).
(15) Continue along the path on the right, parallel to the tarmac road, to the hamlet of Clouquier.
(16) Cross the tarmac road and take the path opposite. Follow this path for 3 km.
(17) Pass over the Pech de Labade ridge with its panoramic view of the Lot valley. After the relay antenna, the path descends rapidly towards the Château de Cénevières.
(18) From the château, descend towards the village of Cénevières, following the yellow markings to the town hall car park (S/E).
On an e-MTB, following the GPX route, early in the morning under bright sunshine. A fabulous route. Single tracks and wide paths, well maintained and very varied. No particular difficulties if you take care along the ledges and are careful on the last steep descent, on scree, after the relay antenna. Superb views of the Lot and the Causse and passing through charming, beautifully preserved villages. The Roquecave spring is worth a detour. A route I recommend to anyone who likes to be surprised.
