The hills of Hésingue

Partly in the forest and partly in open countryside, this route will allow you to discover the forest and countryside to the west of Hésingue: the passage over and under the D105, the Fichtag discovery trail with its numerous informative and entertaining displays and panels, the Liesbach passage with its beautiful wooden footbridges, the Finnish track, the tranquillity of the forest, the beauty of the countryside and the views towards the Black Forest.

Description of the walk

Rue du Cimetière car park (6 spaces).

(S/E) With your back to the car park, walk up Rue du Cimetière to the left to enter the forest.

(1) At the first fork, go straight ahead. At the second fork, just before the barriers on the cycle path, turn right onto the uphill path. Further on, turn left towards the D105.

(2) Cross over the dual carriageway between the two wooden fences. Continue straight ahead. Pass by a small fenced-in property. You will see the Reckwiller farm in the distance. The path turns to the right and arrives at a crossroads.

(3) Turn left, then left again and pass in front of the Reckwiller farm. You will arrive at the small car park for the Fichtag discovery trail. There are numerous fun and informative signs along the trail.

(4) Take the path on the right just before the car park. Follow it, then walk along the Liesbach and go down the path secured by a ramp. Pass on the left and cross the Liesbach on a small wooden bridge. Go left and arrive at the second car park for the discovery trail.

(5) Turn right, then take the second path on the left. Follow the path marked by the Club Vosgien to the right, then straight on until you reach the edge of the forest. Follow the clearly visible path that descends at a right angle to the right along the forest. You will come to a wooden barrier on the left with the Red Ring markings.

(6) Follow the Red Ring marked trail to the left. Cross the Liesbach again on a wooden footbridge to the right. Pass a picnic table. At the end of the path, turn left and stay on this wide path until you reach the edge of the forest. Keep left and go to the end of the path. Beautiful views of the Black Forest.

(7) Turn right and go through a small tunnel under the D105. Continue straight ahead and you will arrive at the fork in the road from the outward journey.

(1) Turn left and, following the outward route in reverse, return to the car park (S/E).
