Park in the car park in front of the entrance to Wentzwiller Church, a church with a half-timbered bell tower – a very rare feature.
(S/E) Take Rue de l’Église (marked with Red Disc and Blue Disc signs) and cross the bridge over the Altenbach stream.
(1) Turn left onto Rue des Sources. Continue westwards along the tarmac track until you reach a crossroads after the pumping station.
(2) First turn right then left onto the country lane, cross another stream and reach the D16, with the old wayside cross on your right.
(3) Cross the departmental road with care and continue straight on up the hill (marked with Red Disc and Blue Disc signs) to the highest point of the walk.
(4) Turn left onto the forest track known as the “Balcon du Sundgau” (marked with a Red Disc) and continue along this track until you reach the D12b4.
(5) Follow it to the left, then take the path running alongside the road, where there are benches from which to admire the view of Basel.
(6) Turn left, enter the forest and follow the Chemin du versant Sud until you reach the D16.
(7) Turn left and walk alongside the road for about 300 m (make sure you stay close to the edge). At the first cross, turn right and
follow the path towards the Oratoire des Trois Vierges, a mystical pilgrimage site since the Middle Ages.
(8) Continue along this path (marked with Red Rings), follow the Stations of the Cross to Rue de l’Église at the entrance to Wentzwiller and head right back to the car park in front of the church (S/E).
