The Woods of Saint-Sauveur

Park in the car park near the cemetery.

(S/E) Walk alongside the cemetery, go up Rue de la Côte du Pin, passing the city park and the tennis courts, until you reach a crossroads.

(1) Follow the road until you see the sign on the right for Chavigné.

(2) Turn right down the road leading to the beautiful Chavigné house, then head up the grassy path with lovely views of the rolling countryside and the village. Pass through a gate and continue through the woodland (caution: clay soil in wet weather).

(3) Turn left onto a wide, straight avenue lined mainly with oak trees. Continue to a^second wooden gate and, just beyond it, discover the majestic oak tree at Nénette. Pass under the high-voltage power line and arrive at the three-way junction.

(4) Turn right onto a small winding path, follow the high-voltage power line on your right, then turn sharply right at the next crossroads onto a path lined with a hedge.

(5) Go round the Ferme de la Rose on the right, then turn left along the field, go under a hedge of trees and follow the large Étang de la Rose. At the end of the path, turn right onto a wider lane. Stay on this path, ignoring the tracks on the right, until the view opens up.

(6) At the three-way junction, keep to the right and head down the lovely path with a view of the church of Saint-Sauveur la Foucaudière. At the end of the path, turn left towards the village, pass in front of the beautiful Pajauderie house and join a road.

(7) Turn right at the presbytery, take the grassy path and then, at the three-way junction, veer left (leaving the slope towards the woods). Cross a small bridge over the Ruisseau la Courance, then head up the road on the right.

(1) At the junction, keep left and, just after crossing the road, head up Chemin du Pin and keep to the left. Continue along this path to the road, cross it and carry on to the next crossroads

(8) Turn left onto a straight path and rejoin the road.
At the Stop sign, turn left until you reach the crossroads.

(9) Turn right, after the sign for Saint-Sauveur, onto Chemin du Moulin à Vent. Stay on this path and head back down the track, enjoying a beautiful view on the other side.

(10) When you reach the road, turn left into the small street. Continue left along this street lined with old houses.

(11) Walk past the church (on your left) then the town hall (on your right) and turn right into Rue de la Côte du Pin to reach the cemetery car park (S/E).
