Description of the walk

Car park near Saint-Sulpice Church.

(S/E) With your back to the church, head towards the town hall via the Route de Saint-Sauveur and take thefirst road on the left (Rue de la Grand Croix) before the school. At the rest stop, enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding area. Continue along the street, passing the riding centre and then the Lunoterie lodge.

(1) Cross the junction opposite the lodge, and at the bend, leave the road and continue straight on along the grassy path. Pass through a small copse, turn left along the fields and head downhill to the crossroads at the edge of the woodland.

(2) At the junction, turn left onto the small path running along the edge of the woodland. It continues through the trees until it reaches the D75 road.

(3) Cross carefully, enter the woodland and stay on the main path, ignoring the side paths, until you reach thethird junction.

(4) After a waterhole, turn left, then immediately left again (ignore the path on the right).
Follow the long track (ignoring the two paths on the right) then turn right onto the wide track until you reach the next junction.

(5) At the crossroads, turn right onto a narrower path lined with fir trees and broom, then immediately left; continue to the next junction where you will see directional arrows on your left.

(6) Take the path on the right, the one signposted ‘Forêt New’, and carry on straight ahead until you reach the next junction.
Turn right onto a more open path lined with ferns, then immediately turn left onto a muddy, rutted track. At the fork, keep to your right and rejoin a wider path. Continue straight on until you reach the junction with a path coming from the right.

(7) Turn left towards the Basses Loges house, then right until you reach the small road. Cross it next to Les Souchons and follow the path along the fence (private hunting ground). Keep to your left, passing thefirst crossroads.

(8) At thesecond junction, turn right (ignore the path on the right). Stay on the same path lined with pine trees and carry on straight ahead, due west, until you reach the D78 road.

(9) Cross the road with care, passing the hamlet known as “Les Hillerets”. Continue straight on, passing the next junction and under two high-voltage power lines. After a right-hand bend, you’ll come to a left-hand bend opposite the entrance to Château de Groie.

(10) Head downhill to the left towards the small village of Le Pin. Cross the village and then turn right onto a small road. Head uphill, crossing a small bridge, and about 150 metres further on you’ll reach a junction where the path bends.

(11) Take a narrower path straight ahead. Continue for about a hundred metres until you reach a junction where three paths meet. Turn left, pass under the high-voltage power lines and continue across the fields until you reach a road.

(12). Take the road on the left. Ignore the small path on the right. Walk past the Moulin Neuf complex and continue to the stop sign at the junction with the Route de Saint-Ustre.

(13) Turn right and follow the Remilly stream, then walk past the sports ground until you reach the stop sign. At the stop sign, turn right, walk past the wash house and turn left, then head up the passage between the houses to reach the Place de la Mairie (S/E).

Very wooded route, a bit of flat terrain and the end of the route on a small road between fields, which is a bit monotonous. Well-maintained paths.
