The Vallon de Fontouse

A circular route that takes us to the secluded Vallon de Fontouse and then, after the Col de Fontouse, back via the hamlet of Les Escoyères, before returning to Villargaudin, where we set off from.
No technical difficulties, but it may feel a bit long for some.
An easier return route is available via Le Queyron, but it’s less wild and much busier.
The route comes straight from my GPS using the Visorando app.

We decided to set off from Villardgaudin towards Le Queyron and Fontouse, returning via the track to the north. This makes for a clockwise loop, ideal in autumn; a hike of around 5 hours with lovely views of the Dent de Ratier and the traditional sheepfold at Fontouse.

A well-described and enjoyable walk, even though it was too late to see the alpine flowers at the start of August.
After point 6, we decided to head down to Les Escoyères via the ‘sentier des vaches’ (signposted), but it turned out the slope was too steep to walk down. It’s better to carry on along the Visorando trail.
