The Ru du Cuivre

There are a few fords and footbridges to cross, as well as the Bois du Foulon, not forgetting the famous Malvau hill.

Description of the walk

The route starts in front of the church in Chêne-Arnoult.

(S/E) Set off south-east towards the town hall. At the fork in the road, turn left. At the next fork, turn right towards Les Jarrys. At the T-junction, follow the road to the left for about a hundred metres.

(1) At the junction, turn right. At the Fork in the road, keep slightly to the right, leaving the path on the far right, and continue along the path which descends gently through the woods.

(2) At the bottom (with the road on your left), carry on straight ahead. Shortly afterwards, cross a ford over one branch of the Ouanne, then a footbridge over a second branch. Cross the car park diagonally to the right. Walk past the Saint-Gobain factory on your right until you reach the D950.

(3) Cross the road carefully, head straight on and, shortly afterwards, cross the railway line. Immediately afterwards, take thefirst path on the left. Walk along the railway line on your left until you reach a road.

(4) Then turn left, cross the railway line again and carefully follow the D950 to the right. Cross the car park on the right-hand side. Immediately afterwards, carefully cross the D950 and head right for a few tens of metres. Then take thefirst track slightly to the left. Shortly afterwards, the track turns left.

(5) At a junction with a path coming from the right, continue straight on. Just before the ford, turn right, following the signs for L’Arbre (yellow and green markings), until you come to a footbridge on the right shortly afterwards.

(6) Take the footbridge to cross another branch of the Ouanne. Immediately afterwards, take a second footbridge on the right. Then leave the path on the left and take the path on the right. Immediately ignore a fork to the left and carry on straight ahead through the woodland until you reach the next path on the left.

(7) Then turn left and head up the steep track. Join a road and first turn left then right to cross the hamlet of Malvau.

(8) Take thefirst road on the right. A little further on, this turns left; carry on to the crossroads.

(9) First turn left then right and follow the road for a few metres. Take thefirst path on the left (not shown on the map) and walk alongside the Ru du Cuivre on your right. You’ll come out onto a road; follow it to the left for a few hundred metres.

(10) When the road bends to the left, carry on straight ahead along a track (south) until you come out onto a road further on.

(11) Follow it to the left. Walk alongside the Grands Bois on your right, then past the cemetery, and at the junction on the corner, turn right to return to the starting point (S/E).
