Description of the walk

The start is on Allée du Château, opposite the church.

(S/E) Walk up Rue de l’Église Notre-Dame to reach a side road; turn right onto it towards the houses at La Cour aux Baudes. Walk through the hamlet until you reach a main road.

(1) Carry on straight ahead towards Chêne Fort (dead-end sign). Pass a house on your right and arrive at the River Ouanne. It flows freely through this valley and very often floods the path.

(2) To get round this, take the path furthest to the left, then the next one – still on the left – which climbs steeply. At the road, turn right towards the houses at Malvau.

(3) At the crossroads, turn left, ignoring the dead-end road. At the next crossroads, head right (signs No. 7 to 11) and continue until you reach the cross-road.

(4) Carry straight on and head downhill to the bridge signposted ‘Cuivre’. Just before this bridge, turn left onto a grassy path. When you reach a track, take it uphill to the left until you reach a bend.

(5) At the start of the bend, leave the track and take the path opposite, overlooking the Ru du Cuivre.

(6) Cross the road and set off along the path. Keep following it as it runs above the stream until you come out onto a cross-road.

(7) Continue straight ahead along the path; you’ll soon see a strip of woodland on your left, and at the end, cross through a wood before reaching its edge on your right.

(8) Turn left, keeping the edge of the woodland on your right, and you’ll reach a road.

(9) Take this road on the left, passing the Bergerie to reach Les Moullières.

(10) Turn right. After passing the driveway leading to the château (private), you’ll come out onto a crossroad. Head towards the war memorial and turn left, towards the village, to reach the church (S/E).

It’s quite a long drive, and the first part of the walk is tough as the paths haven’t been maintained (after the Bois du Foulon). There are some lovely views, but it’s best not to do this in hot weather as many sections are unshaded. There are more woods towards the end.

A little-used route with one major drawback: the climb between Le Foulon and Malvau (trees, branches and tall grass obstructing the path), forcing you to break branches by hand... a shame.

The route description is a bit too brief; if the signposting (which is recent and comprehensive) weren’t so well done, there’s a risk of getting lost at junctions. A wonderful sense of being at one with nature. The trail passes by some of the filming locations for the film *Comme un avion* (Le Foulon).

Very clear route description. Well-maintained paths with plenty of shade.
This route allows you to explore the agricultural landscapes of the Gâtinais, as well as some beautiful, well-restored buildings.

A pleasant walk, but the scenery and local heritage aren’t particularly interesting.
