Park 2.6 km from Trépot church, on Chemin de la Croix-Rouge, at the start of the "Les Doubs Chemins" hike. Yellow-blue markings.
(S/E) Turn right onto the gravel path (towards the Trépot and Foucherans circular) on an old railway line.
(1) At the next barrier and signpost, at the crossroads, climb the wooded hill on the left towards Foucherans (Mountain Bike Route No. 27). A hundred metres further on, at the signpost, turn left (towards Rocher du Tourbillon) onto the path that climbs up through the pasture. With the pasture on your left, walk along the tree-lined ridge on your right.
(2) About fifty metres before the end of the woods, look for signs on the right and take the forest path on the right towards Rocher du Tourbillon. This is a lovely, open path on the hillside with views of the cliffs on the other side. When the path stops climbing, at a signpost and a hairpin bend, continue straight on towards Tourbillon. The path soon splits, with the two branches rejoining a little further down. The marked path takes the left-hand path. At a tree with signs, you will join another path.
(3) Turn right towards Rocher du Tourbillon. You will arrive at the first viewpoint over the Brême valley, Bonnevaux du Bas. Continue to the second viewpoint over the Reculée de Plaisir Fontaine. Retrace your steps to the tree with signs.
(3) Descend to the right towards Bonneveaux du Bas. Join the D280 at a hairpin bend and descend to the right until the next bend.
(4) At the end of the bend, on the other side of the wooden barriers, look for the path that climbs into the woods on the left. It quickly joins a wider path which you will follow on the left up to the village. At the war memorial, turn left and at the next fork, turn left again towards Ornans.
(5) At the village exit, take the dead-end road on the right, Chemin du Tourbillon. It quickly forks; keep right. At the next fork, turn right onto the gravel road towards the farm shed (Mountain Bike Route 27). Enjoy the lovely views of the hills. After the barn, continue left towards La Faye. At the next fork, continue left until you reach the farmhouse inn. On the right, you will see the silhouette of the Hautepierre rock.
(6) Pass in front of the farm and continue straight ahead on the gravel path. A little further on, it turns slightly to the right and then enters the woods. You will then cross a long clearing.
(7) Two-thirds of the way across the clearing, you will come to three paths. Take the one on the far left into the woods and follow it to the starting point (S/E).
The route includes unsecured ledge paths. The trails are rocky and slippery in places. Sturdy footwear is essential and walking sticks are recommended.
