Description of the walk

Start: Le Bannet car park (fitness trail).

(S/E) From the car park, take the fitness trail. After 700 m, pass the signpost for La Jaquemotte. Continue along the fitness trail until you reach a small path on the left which, via two small footbridges, allows you to cross the Ruisseau des Fraichis. Take this path and climb up to a main track.

(1) Turn right and stay on this path until you reach the Route Forestière du Petit Terme, ignoring the few paths branching off to the left or right.

(2) Follow this forest road, heading up to the right (north-north-east) until you reach the ONF shelter and the junction with the Route Forestière du Lazareth.

(3) Cross it and take a well-marked path to join the Route du Lazareth near Olly.

(4) Turn right twice, first to cross the Givonne and then to reach Olly Castle.

(5) After the château, head right and follow the Givonne at a distance. A first path on the right leads to private property; keep left until the second fork, where you turn right to reach a tributary which you cross by fording (there is a small supply channel at this point). After crossing the stream, look for a small footbridge on the right which allows you to cross the Givonne.

(6) Use this footbridge to cross the river. Head right onto a wide path which, after a hairpin bend to the left, runs alongside a tributary of the Givonne before reaching the Route Forestière du Pommier.

(7) Head down to the right for about fifty metres, then head up to the left along a forest track (mountain bike trail).
Cross the first plot boundary before reaching a wide grassy path.

(8) Head right to the end of this path, then turn left before taking the first path on the right to cross the Ruisseau des Fraichis.

(9) After crossing the stream, keep as far to the right as possible, pass through a wetland area and, shortly afterwards, rejoin a path that runs along an administrative boundary (ditch on the right and markings on the trees).
You will rejoin the Route Forestière du Lazareth.

(10) Cross this forest road then follow, opposite, a mountain bike track, keeping well to the right so as not to stray from the Ruisseau des Fraichis. You will reach a forest lane.

(11) Turn right, then immediately left to head down towards a pond.

(12) After the pond, turn right to cross the embankment, then turn left and cross the stream. Head slightly uphill opposite, then veer right as soon as possible to find a path used by mountain bikers on the high ground above the stream. Keep the stream in sight until you reach the end of the fitness trail.

(13) Climb the steps on the left and follow the end of the fitness trail to return to the starting point (S/E).

Very pleasant hike, especially in warm weather, as it is very shaded.
There are numerous signs warning of fallen trees, but apart from two, none are directly on the trail.
The elevation gain is significant but steady and easy.
Pure joy!

A really lovely route. However, I found it a bit tricky to follow the route. There weren’t enough landmarks.
